Five or six years ago, I was in between places and needed a place to stay for the summer. A lovely couple in my church, who happen to be retired police officers, opened their home to me.

They wouldn't let me pay rent or for utilities. They told me to put any thing I needed or wanted on their grocery list and they would get it for me.

They had three chihuahuas that were basically like their children. One has since passed away. Since I couldn't pay them with money, I painted portraits of their beloved pets as a thank you for their great generosity.

This couple isn't Jewish, but they love Israel and all of the dogs had names associated with Israel so I looked up how to write them in Hebrew.

I'm dog sitting for them this weekend and thought I would share that story.
