They’re in the shop now.
All seven Halloween shelf sitters. Everyone laser cut from wood and then hand-painted. The red of her dress, the gold star on his throat, the flowers on the raven’s head, all of it brushwork. They stand on their own no hook, no hanger, nothing to hang, set them on the shelf and they’re done.

Every girl has the braids. The boy has the beard. Everything else.

Hat off, hands come off, put new ones on — and the same two gnomes go from sunflowers in September, to a jack-o,-lantern bucket in October, to cocoa by December. The bodies never leave the shelf.

Twelve themes painted so far. This is the fall four, and that little bucket too less time than that hat did.

Two horse rumps in the back window, and the plate reads
HAPYTRALZ.

It starts as bare, laser - cut wood. The weathering on the orange, the dapples on the rumps, the lettering on that plate — all of it is painted, one layer at a time.

Hangs on a ribbon with a bow. Made to order. So if it’s going to be in a stocking this year now is the time to ask.
