This week our spotlight vendor is Rachel and RHRdesigns!
She creates fine silver and gold jewelry, incorporating precious and semi-precious stones, textures, and patinas that remind her of the ocean.

This is Rachel’s 5th year at the Kennebunk Artisans Marketplace and she is really looking forward to the social aspect of the market, interacting with customers and fellow vendors!

Rachel’s father was a metalsmith and instilled in her the love of working with her hands. When she was 12, he helped her complete her first metal project, a 2’ x 3’ copper sailing ship. From there she began to focus on metal jewelry.

She enjoys working in both silver and gold. Some of her popular pieces currently are Maine Flag designs and the mixed metal pieces. The idea for the Maine flag design pieces came to her 2 years ago, when a questions was posed to Maine voters about changing our state flag. The vote didn’t pass but the Maine Flag symbol and jewelry has been a hit!

She has been focusing a lot of her mixed metal pieces and 14k gold fill work (gold fill is thicker and more durable than gold plating so it lasts longer). The gold fill has been very popular lately so Rachel has been doing a lot of work with that material lately.

Some of her favorite pieces today are still her mixed metal work along with stone work. One piece she pointed out to me was veined with native copper that really made it pop!

Rachel currently has the majority of her tourmaline pieces and one of a kind (unique) pieces of display at the Brick Store Museum in Kennebunk (just a little farther up Main Street) until the end of June. This is a wonderful opportunity to visit her exhibit and learn more about her work!

Rachel also offers custom work. You can reach out to her through her website or even just come to the Kennebunk Artisans Marketplace and meet with her in person!

This weeks spotlight vendor is Lindsey with Nook, Novel and Nibbles! Today is her first time at the Kennebunk Artisans Marketplace and we are wishing her well!

Lindsey started with her sourdough journey when her mom came to visit her in the fall from Florida, to help with the kids while her husband was away training with the Air Force. Her mom brought a sourdough starter kit with her, thinking it would be a fun activity for them to try. Lindsey wasn’t sure if she would enjoy making sourdough because of the long, detailed process it involves. It is a labor of love.
Now, the art of sourdough has become therapeutic for her and she loves it. She finds it extremely gratifying and rewarding; she is very proud of her work when it comes of of the oven. Along with her loafs of bread, she makes discard crackers as well.

In addition to her sourdough, Lindsey also sells dog treats, potholder, tea cup bird feeders, and Blind Date with a Book kits!
She always wanted to make dog treats, due to how much junk is in store bought dog treats. Her families dogs love them and makes them all from home with simple ingredients- pumpkin, peanut butter, flour. All of the shapes are hand cut.

The potholders are made by her daughter, Taylor. She really enjoys the craft of making them and picks out such lovely color combinations!

“Blind Date with a Book” is a group effort, involving herself and her two daughters. They all love to read. The inspiration from this came from visiting other markets. Her daughters are very creative and enjoy the process of picking books and accessories to go with them. Lindsey deeply vets books and looks up ratings, etc. so that she has options for any book lover. Each book comes with the genre, age range, and a variety of accessories!

The tea cup birds feeders are made from thrifting china tea cup and saucer sets! She uses expoy to hold the tea cup and saucer together as well as to attach the chains.

For today’s maker, she is looking forward to the experience and getting to meet other vendors. She is happy to get to expose the town to who they are and what they do. The family puts a lot of heart into what they make.

Nook, Novel, and Nibbles is a part time vendor, and will be here 9 more times this summer

Our first spotlight vendor of the season is Penny Colomb and Layered Wonders!

Penny started her business in 2024, but it wasn’t her first craft— she started crafting with painting and pebble crafts. She needed things she could start and stop easily while caring for mom.
In 2023, Penny went to craft fair and saw a vendor with shadow boxes and was very intrigued. After this she signed up for some online workshops, got some mentor, and started creating them herself.
She loves birds, cats, dogs, and nature. Penny finds most of her inspiration from things that have an emotional connection to her family that is no longer here— cardinals and cats are important to her in this way!
She is very passionate about this art and creating special orders for customers to get them exactly what they need. Penny mostly makes unique items and rarely has more than one of each design.
Her process starts with obtaining a pattern, then pick colors. She uses a cricut for her cutting, so she makes sure it’s set up for the correct material and paper she will be using. Sometimes she customizes the patterns customizes to better fit what she wants the final image to be.
Penny’s favorite items to make are pets, birds, farm scenes, Christmas, and seasonal nature scenes.
Her best sellers are cardinals and winter barn scenes.
Her favorite thing about coming to the markets is that, now that’s she’s retired, it gives her an opportunity to be out, socialize and share her passion with others.

Happy Saturday to all! Join us at the Kennebunk Artisans Marketplace from 9-3! Today our spotlight vendor is Dave and Malia Manifestations!

Dave began creating art around the time he was 12. His woodwork began during the last 4 years. All of the Resin and jewelry making is done by his wife, Jennifer.

Dave was looking at metal work on
Facebook one day and came across some copper fish that he thought were cool. He envisioned them looking nice with some stain glass accents. So he started creating his own version with wood, copper and stain glass. From there he kept creating and expanded his art.

When coming up with new pieces he always starts with drawing, sketches, and doodles of his ideas. The designs he is drawn to change with seasons and time. He doesn’t linger too long on a single theme. As winter approaches he plans to get back into painting.

For the resin, Jennifer mixes it with dyes and colors then pours the mix into molds. They set up with UV light. After she cleans the edges, puts a backing on. The earrings are made with sculpey, which is a man made clay.

Dave’s favorite product to make is always the next one. He likes to move on and try new things. He is looking forward to painting more again this winter

The best selling product is resin as he usually sells a few resin pieces each show

Dave’s favorite part of coming to the Kennebunk Artisans Marketplace is that there plenty of space for people to wander around. Kennebunk is a consistent market with new clientele every week.

The spotlight vendor this week is Kristin and KCrochet! She started crochet in 2021 because she wanted to make her dog a sweater. After doing this, other people, like friends and family members, began asking for sweaters. This eventually snowballed into a business. This is her fourth year at the Kennebunk Artisans Marketplace!

As she started doing more craft shows, she started to think more about what else she could make and sell. She has found patterns and inspiration online for scarves, bags, scrunchies and earrings. Now she offers these as well as dogs sweaters! She also takes requests and personal orders. The best ways to contact her are located on her business card (in the pictures below!).

KCrochet tries to cater to all dogs and sizes, not just small dogs. So her dog sweaters range is size from XXS to XXL— there really is something for all dogs! She even makes matching bow tie and scrunchie sets so that owners can match their dogs.

Her best sellers are bags and earrings. Her favorite items to make are scarves with chunky yarn, as they are quick and rewarding. She also really enjoys crafting granny squares, which she uses to make her bags! Kristin’s favorite parts about market is the community, because everyone is very nice and welcoming, and the great location!!

Make sure to stop by the market on Saturdays and visit KCrochet!

Our spotlight vendor this week is the Lucky Whims and Michelle and Helen!

Michelle and Helen are best friends and have been crafting as the Lucky Whims for over 7 years.

They go to a campground together and years ago and began doing crafts then. The campground had a craft fair and there they started selling painted rocks. From there they grew and added more products.

They travel up and down the coast, going as far as Lubec, looking for materials for their art. They figured since they were already on the beaches looking for rocks to use, they might as well start collecting sea glass and creating art with that as well.

Both women have a strong love for the ocean, so the majority of their art centers around an ocean and beach theme.

Some of their best selling items are sea gulls, camp fire, cats and flower art.

Their favorite part about coming to the market is the people, they consider their market friends to be like family and enjoy seeing them each week. They also love getting to see all the visitors from around the country and the world.
Michelle and Helen appreciate all their customers and love the stories customers have to share.

It is a beautiful Saturday to visit the Kennebunk Artisans Marketplace at Waterhouse Center! Open until 3pm today!

This weeks vendor spotlight is on Walt Selens and Walt-King Sticks & More

Walt is from Gorham, Maine and started his craft 15 years ago with walking sticks. He works as a neuromuscular therapist and was seeing that some of his patients had a lot of trouble gripping traditional walking canes with their hands. He began making molds of theirs hands and carving pieces of woods to the shape of their hand, allowing them to be able to hold the cane and walk.

As he started doing this more and more, he was encouraged to go to craft shows and sell some of his work and unique walking sticks. With every show he attended, he received more and more suggestions on new items he could make out of wood. Now he makes walking sticks, knives, knitting needles, clocks, and so much more!

Recently he has started attending renaissance fairs so he has gotten into making feast ware along with renaissance style walking sticks and wands.

One of his favorite woods to work with is Lilac. It is a challenging wood to work with but the final results are always beautiful, with hints of lilac colored wood- you never know what you will get from the wood until you oil it! Another interesting wood he works with is Ipé, which is Brazilian walnut also known as ironwood. This is a very hard wood and also is one of the only woods that doesn’t float. He uses this wood to make knitting needles and some walking sticks.

Walt’s favorite part of going to craft shows and fairs is meeting new people and telling dad jokes. His go-to dad joke is telling people that the most advanced technology at his table is his pinky, he then proceeds to wave his pinky up and down and says: “it’s a microwave!” His biggest seller is the child safe knives he makes, out of wood of course! He has a demo station set up where customers can see how well they work by cutting carrots!
