Today’s the last day to order Cole’s seed for pickup at Roswell and Buford on Saturday, 10/24. Call before 6pm at 770-499-7597. Seed must be ordered in cases of 5,10 or 20 lb bags.

We don’t have many orders yet, so I’ll most likely be delivering in my suv instead of a U-Haul. We will drop off at Roswell at 1pm and Buford at 3:30pm. See you there!

Attention former Buford and Roswell customers!! 📣

We are doing a Cole’s seed delivery meetup next Saturday, October 24th. If you miss shopping with us and your birds are missing their favorite seed, this is for you! 🐦‍⬛

We will be filling a U-Haul with a big load of Cole's seed from the warehouse and meeting customers at the former locations of those two stores for delivery. Roswell at 1pm and Buford at 3:30pm. You must pre-order and pre-pay by telephone by Wednesday afternoon, 10/21/26, so we know how much to bring. 🚚

Seed must be purchased in cases. 5lb bags come six per case. 10lb bags come four per case and 20lb bags come two per case. There will not be a delivery fee and you can use/earn Cole's Rewards points. Our most popular options are Special Feeder, Blue Ribbon Blend, Blazing Hot Blend, Sunflower and Hot Meats, but any Cole's can be ordered (including Suet Kibbles and Dried Mealworms). Stock up now for Winter feeding! This will be a test and if it works out well, we can try to make it a regular thing, maybe every month or so, and include Marietta folks, too. 📦

**LIGHTS OUT ALERT: OCTOBER 16**

We're expecting HIGH migration activity over Georgia on Friday, October 16, with more than 20 MILLION BIRDS expected to be migrating across our skies!

Help keep them safe by going LIGHTS OUT for birds!

-Turn off non-essential outdoor lights between midnight and 6 AM
-Close curtains and draw blinds to prevent light spill from inside your home
-Optimize your outdoor lighting: choose down-shielded, motion-activated fixtures and warm-colored bulbs (3,000 Kelvins or lower)

Why go Lights Out?
Bright artificial lights can confuse and disorient migrating birds, drawing them toward brightly lit cities like metro Atlanta. Birds can collide with buildings or become trapped circling in beams of light until they're exhausted.

Even after birds reach the ground, brightly lit lobbies, reflective glass, transparent facades, and indoor plants near windows can put them at risk of collisions. Weather conditions that force birds to fly lower can make the danger even greater.

More than half of bird-building collisions occur at residential homes. That means turning off your lights at home really can make a difference!

We still have one Ruby-throat visiting, also. But we always leave a few feeders up for possible wintering western hummingbirds. We’ve hosted several Rufous and one Allen’s over the years. What are you seeing in your yards?

🕷️ Day 1 of Joro Watch is off to a strong start!

Thanks to our community of citizen scientists, we received 416 reports on October 12, including 375 confirmed Joro spider sightings submitted by 258 reporters across 82 counties in 5 states. Thanks to your reports, Yancey County, North Carolina, is no longer a gap on the map, adding a new county record and the first Joro Watch 2026 award - "County Champ" to that reporter.

Cooler nights can send tree frogs into sheltered crevices and protected corners around Georgia homes. These hiding places offer refuge from changing conditions, which can make the frogs suddenly noticeable in some unusual spots.
