✨ A Piece of 19th-Century Chilean History — Available Now!

Featured today is an 1877 So Chile 1 Peso, struck in .900 fine silver and graded NGC MS63.

The Chilean peso of this period is a great example of the substantial silver coinage that circulated throughout Latin America during the 1800s. The “So” designation identifies the coin with the Santiago Mint, while its classic design reflects the national identity of Chile during the late 19th century.

What makes this example especially appealing is its condition. At NGC MS63, the coin remains in Mint State — meaning it shows no wear from circulation. Finding 19th-century world silver preserved in true uncirculated condition adds another level of collectability.

COIN MYTH: The lower the mintage, the more valuable the coin. 🪙

False.

Mintage is only one piece of the puzzle!

A coin can have a low mintage and still be relatively affordable if demand is weak or enough examples survived. On the other hand, a coin with a higher original mintage can become extremely desirable if few survived in collectible condition. 👀

When determining value, collectors also have to consider:

• Survival rate
• Condition and grade
• Collector demand
• Eye appeal
• Availability in the marketplace

That’s why two coins with very different mintages can sometimes surprise you when it comes to value.
