In my humble opinion, the Charlottesville, VA area is about as close to heaven on earth as I can imagine. It is home to the University of Virginia (one of my alma maters), incredible scenery nestled near the Blue Ridge mountains, and an architectural, historical and cultural pedigree unmatched anywhere in the country. I post from Charlottesville frequently for a reason - there’s so much goodness there.
If you’ve never been to Keswick, just east of Charlottesville, you’re missing out. Anchored by Keswick Estate, a luxury resort and country club, the rural area is peppered with historic horse farms, award-winning wineries, charming country stores and villages, and Marigold by Jean Georges (probably one of the best restaurants in Virginia).
Nestled on the Keswick Estate grounds, this freshly completed home employs classical details (custom millwork, Chippendale railings), materials (slate, oak, bluestone, marble, oh my!) and proportions typical of the many historic estates in the region reimagined for a modern life. So many new houses today show their cards too easily, with wide open plans that leave no privacy or functional delineation. This house is composed of generously sized rooms that open onto each other, revealing the home as you navigate it, and that can be intimate on a chilly winter evening or grand when hosting a spring cocktail party.
With almost 9,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms, 10-foot ceilings, multiple fireplaces, expansive patios overlooking a private lake, and top of the line appliances and fixtures, this house is ready to move in. However, if you wanted to truly make this house your own, some of the country’s best interior designers and landscape architects also happen to call the Charlottesville, VA region home.
This house is listed with Loring Woodriff, Loring Woodriff Real Estate Associates.
