Real wood. Real texture. No faux anything.

Provenance Woven Wood Shades from Hunter Douglas are handcrafted from wood, reeds, grasses and bamboo. Every shade has that slightly imperfect, made-by-someone look, and it makes a room feel warmer before you've even turned on a lamp.
The fabrics range from airy sheers to full opaques. The Fine Weaves are lighter and more refined, for when you want the texture without the heft. Pick a Roman, Waterfall, Recessed or Vertical Drapery style. Add a liner if you want more privacy or more light control. Or go top-down/bottom-up and let the sun in while the neighbors wonder what you're up to.

Built for mountain houses, cabins and anyone who likes their windows to look like they came from outside.

These are just a few of the Hunter Douglas Designer Roller Shade fabrics. There are more than 350 options, from sheer to opaque: textures, prints, patterns and some exclusive fabrics you won't find anywhere else. Want a clean linen look? It's in there. A bold pattern for the powder room? Also in there. Something that disappears into a white wall and lets the view do the talking? Plenty of those.

The hard part isn't finding one you like. It's narrowing it down. That's where we come in, with the fabrics in your actual light and at your actual windows.

Meet Silhouette Halo from Hunter Douglas. It has the same soft fabric vanes floating between two sheers that you already love, plus a few upgrades we're a little nerdy about.

The vanes are double layered now, so the color looks just as good from the street as it does from your couch. They also over-rotate, turning past where the classic version stops. That means better control over low, sideways sun. (If you've ever squinted across your living room in February with sun bouncing off fresh snow, you get it.)
When it's closed, there's no exposed bottom rail. Just fabric, top to bottom. Clean.
Need light filtering and room darkening in the same shade? Add DuoLite. Would you rather never touch it at all? It works with PowerView automation, so your shades can keep up with the sun for you.

From swatch to shade.

It starts at your kitchen table, with a pile of fabric and some honest opinions. (Yes, you can hold that one up to the window again.) Then we measure, you pick, and a few weeks later the real thing goes up. It fits your windows, your light and the view you actually care about.

Same room, different feel.

Fifty Shades of Shades, Episode Seven: clean aesthetics.

When they match what's already in the room; the wood tones, the wall color, the whole feel of the space; everything just looks right. That's what we do at Blindscape. We start with the home you've already built and find the shades that fit it, so nothing clashes and nothing feels like an afterthought. Your shades should belong to the room, not fight it.

Fifty Shades of Shades, Episode Six: all of the shades. Here are some of the most common shades we work with and why.

Luminette is our go-to for big glass and sliding doors. It's a sheer with soft fabric vanes that turn to let you go from full view to full privacy, and it handles harsh light better than anything.

Vignette is a modern Roman shade, so you get those soft folds without any cords hanging around. Clean and tailored.

Provenance woven woods and Alta's natural wovens are all about texture. Real bamboo, reeds, grasses. They warm up a room the way flat fabric just can't.

Duette honeycombs are the workhorses. The cells trap air right at the glass, so they actually help with insulation, which matters a lot in a valley that gets this cold.

And rollers are the simple, clean option when you just want good light control and nothing fussy.
That's the lineup. Different windows want different things.

Can a shade actually help lower your heating bill?

A client with big windows and bigger bills asked us exactly that. As your local Hunter Douglas dealer here in Sun Valley, we knew right where to point them: Duette® Honeycomb Shades. Their honeycomb cells trap air in pockets right at the glass, insulating against the cold coming in and the warmth escaping, which is exactly what a Sun Valley winter asks for. We layered in a room-darkening fabric for the bedrooms and a light-filtering one for the living room, so every space got the light it wanted and the comfort it needed.

Fifty Shades of Shades, Episode Five: a look at what we've been up to around town.

From the big glass that frames Baldy to the bedrooms that need to go properly dark, every home in this valley asks its windows for something a little different. Some wanted the view protected, some wanted the light softened, some just wanted their afternoons back. Here's a look at a few of the shades we've installed around Sun Valley lately, and the reasons behind them.

Texture you can feel from across the room. Natural Woven Shades by Alta are made from real bamboo, reeds, jute, and grasses, so no two shades are ever quite the same. Left unlined, they filter sunlight into something soft and dappled, almost like light coming through trees. Add a liner, and you get real privacy or full room-darkening without losing any of that handcrafted character. In a valley full of timber and stone, they're the shade that feels like it belonged there all along.
