The Key West Spice Company came about after years of practicing the hobby of sharing my homemade seasoning blends with family and friends. The real joy came when people would tell me they were cooking more as a result of having my seasoning in their kitchen. I created the Key West Spice Company with the sole purpose of making the same seasoning blends that I have been sharing for years, available
for more people. Key West and the Florida Keys are unique in many ways. The Keys have always been known for the wonderful seafood that is harvested daily from our local waters. Good fish deserves a good seasoning. The area also is a place that does a tremendous job of sharing itself with the rest of the world. The finished product makes a great gift for our friends who live here, but also for those who visit and want to take something from Key West back home to share. Spices have been traded for years, once even considered as a currency. It is said that one of the motivations for Columbus discovering the New World was for a better route for trading spices. Our current products are Southernmost Blend, Island BBQ, Key Lime Seasoning, Seafood Seasoning, and Island Grill. Southernmost Blend is an all-purpose seasoning. It can be used to add flavor and enhance seafood, as well as other meats and vegetables. It contains no MSG, no additives, no preservatives, it has a low content of sodium compared to most other seasonings at 65 mg per ¼ teaspoon. Island BBQ is a classic style BBQ rub. It has a flavor profile similar to that of the Southernmost Blend with the addition of brown sugar and a couple of other tweaks that make it an awesome BBQ rub. It contains no MSG, no additives, no preservatives and is not loaded with salt either. Key Lime Seasoning adds a tropical citrus flavor that can only come from Key West. This seasoning adds Key Lime flavor to shrimp, pork, seafood, and chicken dishes. Excellent when used for rimming a Margarita glass. The Key Lime Seasoning contains, no MSG, and no preservatives. Seafood Seasoning is a perfect match made in paradise for all things seafood. A true seafood seasoning created for fish, shrimp, lobster, and scallops. Try it when steaming, blackening, grilling, baking, or broiling. It’s excellent on popcorn and when mixed with bread crumbs when frying. The Seafood Seasoning contains no MSG, no additives, and no preservatives. Island Grill brings island grilled flavor with a subtle smokiness. Island Grill is a true meat lovers seasoning. Flavored with natural apple wood smoke flavor it is specifically designed for steaks, chops, chicken, lamb, and veal. Island Grill contains no MSG, no additives, and no preservatives. All our spices are professionally blended and packaged at a commercial spice blending facility here in the USA. The natural nature of our spices do not spoil, but over time just tend to lose their “zip” with exposure to air and sunlight.
