Progress at the Mt. Mount Vernon Rosenwald School in Iron Station, NC. Siding repairs complete and new wood custom windows, made by Foohills Historic to match the original Rosenwald style are being installed. I just love that Old Style Window Glass by Artisan Glass Works Inc.

Fairview School circa 1896 - 6 months in and new red cedar shakes installed, framing repairs complete, new siding installed, windows restored and pine tar treatment on all bare wood started. Phase 2 starts in a few weeks on the interior…stay tuned!

Foothills Historic Conservation specializes in the development of craftsmen/artisans with a passion for breathing new life into historic properties. Most of our team members begin as an apprentice and can master a specific trade, learn about all aspects of rehabilitating an old home or building and develop key skills required for property preservation and maintenance.

We are growing and looking to hire men and women from apprentices (no experience) to master craftsman (experienced), who complement our already amazing team. We specialize in restoring and fabricating windows, doors, cabinetry and millwork for historic homes and buildings in addition to general contracting full rehabilitation projects. We have a passion for old houses and buildings, and we love to work hard restoring their original charm! Over 2 year ago we started working with the Mount Vernon Rosenwald School in Iron Station, NC. After an initial start and stop due to discovery of significant structural concerns we are back at work ready to bring this beauty back to life for the local community. This treasure will see all vinyl siding removed, original lap siding restored, replication of 18 windows that were previously removed, and a lot of interior items to make this safe and functional again.
