It’s always good to visit the Seattle Design Center. So many visual treats to digest and summon when needed. You just never know!
(I saw a $65,000. dining table today 😉)

The color of the year has been selected!
Like it or not, this will contribute to fashion and design trends through this year and seep into consecutive years to come.

“Shout out!”
I am going to sing some praises for this Behr paint.
I am not usually the one holding a paint brush but discovered a small miracle in doing so on a cottage I own. I retrieved a gallon of this paint from a recycling program. Decided it was perfect as a neutral primer to go over tenant inspired baby blue walls.
This cottage was built in the 1960’s and has acoustic tile ceilings. After covering the walls, I noticed several spots on the ceiling which needed attention. I groaned as I thought of having to paint that ceiling entirely to get it back to presentable.
I began dabbing at spots with this paint thinking it was a prep for a full paint.
It wasn’t!!!
This paint covered the spots and was a perfect match to the tiles. A-maz-ing!
Took the can home and touched up spots on my 1960’s guest suite too❣️
What a great “find”, keeping a new quart on hand for any future issues.
By the way, it is a lovely tone of white. Very white, but a hint of warmth too.

A client asked me to do a gift certificate for her sister as a gift from the family. This is a really great idea as a special “experience”.
Coming up with a vision together is a lot of fun too! (This client is in Duvall the total package is $300. Ferry fare, travel, phone consultation and site visit for two hours)

One of my favorite color pallets!
This is missing the sparkle of metal or glass for a beautiful interior but a great basic collage. Try doing something like this of your favorites.
It is fun as well as inspiring ❣️

I borrowed this photo from an ad. Try something with me: put your finger over the piece of artwork over the sofa. It is amazing how the room changes in that instant! Whether you like it or not.
If you are contemplating a change to your homes interior sometimes just the update of art can make a world of difference!
Try a photograph of your room and use this trick to see if you get an inspiration of where to edit❤️
(Or send the photo to me and I’ll suggest where you should start!)

Design Projects from a Designer’s perspective :
Start with a walk through - even virtually - photograph and measure all the elements you will be working with. (Find your blueprint if you can, it saves time and money!)
Then write an outline, (or your Designer will do this) so you and your designer are dialed into the same priorities for your project.

Discuss the next steps, whether they include space planning, as shown here, or pulling finish samples together for review.
Good design is a process.
Layers of information pulled together in plans and documents.

All of this is a path of shared communication so everyone understands the “big picture”. YOUR PROJECT!
A good designer is your guide.
All the great ideas anyone has will not come to fruition without clear communication and collaborated effort between Client, Designer, Contractors and Craftsmen!
Find people you communicate well with. The relationships developed in a project often last for years!

I love what I do. The same steps occur with each new project, but the notes are always new and individualized!

I believe this wholeheartedly!
This photo was clipped from a magazine published in 1985.
I really don’t care too much about trends. They are fun but not “essential” to follow, for interiors. This room makes me happy!
Therefore, to me, it is timeless ❤️
