Things are looking pretty plank-tastic around here! 🪵

We’ve got a lot happening on the shop floor lately, with thermally modified Hemlock, Ash and Poplar making their way through production for siding, decking and flooring projects.

From raw lumber to finished planks, there’s a lot of hands-on work, attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into every board that leaves our shop.

Come behind the scenes with the Total Planksters crew and see what we’ve been working on!

Meet Thermally Modified Ash—a natural American hardwood, enhanced for lasting performance.

Thermally Modified Ash is built to withstand the elements, making it ideal for decking, siding, facades, and more. The modification process uses only heat and steam to improve resistance to moisture, rot, decay, and insects without added chemicals.

Excelsior has always been about more than wood.

What started with Ron Sauer and a willingness to work hard has grown into a business built alongside his family, with the next generation now helping carry it forward.

There have been plenty of long days, lessons learned and changes along the way, but the values behind Excelsior have stayed the same: take pride in your work, treat people right and build something worth passing down.

In our latest blog, we’re sharing a little more of our family’s story and the people behind Excelsior Wood Products.

Bringing the Bellefield At Historic Hyde Park project to life felt personal to us. Growing up as a farmer, Ron traveled the same Hyde Park roads to deliver milk just down the road from where the entry barn stands today.

Thank you to the entire Bellefield team for trusting Excelsior to help bring such an important piece of your vision to life. We are so grateful to be part of this project!

Exterior: Angelique wood siding
Interior: Site-harvested Sycamore

Some projects tell a story through the materials themselves.

For the entry barn at Bellefield At Historic Hyde Park, we supplied two materials with stories all their own: reclaimed Angelique siding sourced from Europe and sycamore harvested directly from the Bellefield property.

The result is a building that reflects the property’s agricultural history while setting the tone for the community taking shape around it.
