Woods Design House is a full service interior design firm located in Houston, Texas, providing interior designs for your new home or renovation.

Floor plans & space planning, millwork design, interior and exterior finishes, furniture & window treatments. Woods Design House can provide you with a complete visual of your space, utilizing 2D and 3D renderings in black and white or color, plus finish color boards along with detailed selection sheets. This enables you to perfect the design, style and function of that space on paper before construction begins, therefore eliminating needless time delays and costly modifications during construction. Emily's core work specialized in Interior Finishes from 1998-2008 designing for Houston area home builders & design studios. She completed her degree in Interior Design in 2001. From 2008 to now, she is currently raising & homeschooling her 3 children, and providing Interior Design services along with her design team. Emily has a unique approach to Design. You will find she is refreshingly personable and will make you feel valued in every aspect of the design process. Her expertise is amplified by her Mom-powered design team. This team is made up of design professionals who happen to be stay-at-home moms. Each specializing in different aspects of Interior Design to help expand Woods Design House services and offerings. It's funny how brave we are with color until it's time to spend our own money. 😂

We see this ALL the time, and we get it!! It's easy to fall in love with a colorful room when it's someone else's home. But when it's time to make those same decisions for your own space? Suddenly that green paint color feels like a much bigger commitment.

And we KNOW it can be scary to commit to that bold sofa, colorful wallpaper, or patterned rug. But goodness, there is so much JOY that comes from filling your home with things you genuinely love!! Don't let the fear of getting tired of something keep you from choosing what makes you happy in the first place.

Consider this your reminder to go for the color you've been talking yourself out of. And send this to your friend who needs a little convincing too. 😂
Because here's your reminder that your home doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea. It just has to be YOURS.

And if there's one thing we've learned after 25+ years of designing homes, it's that playing it safe doesn't always mean you'll love the result.

We are proud to introduce Frank, our Project Coordinator!

Hello, my name is Frank Teixeira, and I am the Project Coordinator at Woods Design House. My wife, Derreth, and I are the proud parents of four wonderful daughters and grandparents to nine amazing grandchildren. We previously lived in Phoenix, where we built extensive experience in turnkey residential and commercial construction through my wife’s family business before moving to the Houston area.

At Woods Design House, I utilize my skills and knowledge to serve our clients and support contractors, helping to create a seamless and convenient remodeling experience. When I’m not working in the studio or on-site, you’ll often find me in the garage working on woodworking projects.
It is my pleasure to serve you.

You know those kitchens that just make you want to stay a little longer? That's exactly what we wanted to create here.

Our client wanted a kitchen that felt classic, warm, and inviting. A space with plenty of character, where they could host friends and family, but also enjoy the everyday moments with their kiddos.

We brought in warm wood tones, a mix of classic and collected details, and little touches that give this kitchen so much personality. 💚

And one of my personal favorite details? The seating area right in front of those big windows overlooking the pool and playscape! The perfect spot for slow mornings with a cup of coffee, keeping an eye on the kiddos playing outside, or catching up with friends while dinner's being made.

Because at the end of the day, your kitchen is so much more than a place to cook. It's where you start your mornings, gather with your favorite people, and make so many of the memories that turn a house into a home.

And THAT is what makes a kitchen worth lingering in. 🤍

The only thing standing between us and our favorite time of year is Halloween. 😅

And while we’re over here counting down the days till Christmas, we’re also wrapping up our holiday decorating calendar!

Our team takes care of sourcing your decor, creating a custom design for your home, and installing everything before the holiday rush. So instead of spending December shopping, decorating, and stressing over every little detail, you get to simply come home and enjoy the magic.

Who decided home offices had to be boring?! 🥲🥲

We spend SO much of our lives working, so why should the room we work in be an afterthought?

Give us the beautiful millwork, the unexpected paint colors, the collected pieces, the pretty lighting, and yes, even the wallpaper. 👏

Because a home office can be hardworking AND beautiful. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice one for the other.

And that’s what we love about these four spaces. They all serve the same purpose, but each one has a completely different personality. From soft and feminine to rich and moody, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to designing a room you actually enjoy spending time in.

When did we all get so worried about making the “wrong” design decision? 🥲

The colorful cabinets you keep coming back to. The wallpaper you absolutely LOVE but keep talking yourself out of. That funky checkerboard tile you can’t stop thinking about but aren’t quite brave enough to commit to.

Somewhere along the way, I think we started worrying more about what everyone else would think of our homes than how WE actually feel living in them.

Will it go out of style? Will the next homeowner like it? Is it too bold? What if I get tired of it?

And listen, we understand! Your home is a big investment, and of course you want to make thoughtful decisions. But we also believe there’s something really special about a home that reflects the people who live there.

The homes we remember most aren’t always the ones where everything matched perfectly or every decision was the safest option. They’re the ones with a little personality, a few unexpected details, and things that make you smile every time you walk into the room.

So here’s your permission slip to choose the wallpaper. Paint the cabinets. Hang those vintage china plates on the wall. Mix the patterns. Make your home feel like YOU.

Because at the end of the day, you’re the one who gets to live there. And shouldn’t you absolutely love it? 🤎

Introducing one of our newest designers, Claudia!

Hi, I’m Claudia — a homeschool mom to three beautiful girls who are, without question, my greatest accomplishment.
Coming from five generations of architects, design has always been part of my story. My passion began at a very young age, but it truly came to life after high school when I interned at my uncle’s firm and discovered the world of interior design. From that moment, I knew I had found the perfect fit.

I went on to earn my bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and specialize in luxury residential and commercial design, creating elevated, thoughtfully curated spaces through a personalized and intentional design process. For over 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of working on projects both nationally and internationally, transforming ideas into refined, functional, and beautifully designed spaces.
Beyond design, I’m passionate about the outdoors and creating meaningful memories with my family through travel and camping. I feel truly honored and grateful to be part of the team at Woods Design House.

Almost 200 pages… for ONE project. 🤯 And that's just the design documentation!

One of the questions Emily gets asked most often is, “How long will it take to design my project?” And while every project is different, the answer is typically several weeks to months!

We thought we'd give you a little peek behind the scenes at WHY it takes that long and what actually goes into creating a thoughtful, well-executed design.

From selecting every finish and fixture to creating pages upon pages of detailed design documents, there is SO much that happens before construction even begins!

And there's a reason for that. 🤎

The more decisions we make and details we work through on the front end, the fewer surprises, delays, and last-minute decisions you'll have to navigate once construction is underway.
