What began as a purely utilitarian room was reimagined as something else entirely - expressive, tailored, joyful to use. Sea-glass blue cabinetry brings a calm, airy presence. San Juan Cement tile grounds it with graphic rhythm and a sense of place. The defining gesture is a wall of black-and-white microcement, moody and full of movement, balanced by warm terracotta accents throughout.

Every cabinet was tailored to how this family actually lives - down to a charging station hidden in the tall cabinet and a magic corner that claims otherwise wasted space.

What a wonderful night celebrating design, creativity, and the people behind it all.

We were incredibly honored to have five of our spaces recognized at NKBA Puget Sound Awards 2026!

Plum Reverie received First Place for Open Plan Kitchen and the People’s Choice Award. Sky and Clay received First Place for Other Room, while Sunlit Ritual and Emerald Isle were both named People’s Choice Bathroom finalists.

To see spaces we poured so much thought and heart into recognized by our design community made the evening especially meaningful.

We’re so grateful to our clients who trusted us with their homes, and to the talented craftspeople and partners who helped bring each of these spaces to life.

There’s a color that doesn’t usually make it into a kitchen. We built the whole room around it.

Named Plum Reverie, after our client’s favorite lipstick - a richly colored fluted island that reads as a bold, furniture-like presence, not an accent. Custom walnut cabinetry wraps the room in a warm, richly grained envelope. Granite counters and backsplash move with pattern, reading as functional art. A skylight washes it all in daylight, while layered evening lighting brings intimacy and drama after dark.

Turns out “interior designer” was never in the job title.
It was always: therapist, mind reader, mediator, and miracle worker, with good taste as a bonus. 😅
Somehow, we still love it.

A room can have the right proportions, the right light, the right furniture and still feel flat.

What it’s missing is almost always texture.

Not as decoration. As depth. The thing that makes a surface interesting to look at from across the room and compelling to touch up close. The reason a wall painted in the same color can feel completely different depending on how it was applied. Why stone carries a presence that a photograph of stone never quite captures. Why a room with a single wallcovering can feel more layered than one with five carefully chosen pieces of furniture.

Texture is what gives a space something to say at every hour of the day - as light moves across it, as shadows shift, as a room settles into evening.

These are the six we return to most. ✩

The sofa is often the first decision made in a room and the one people second-guess the most.

Not because of the shape, or the color but because of the fabric. How it will hold up. How it will feel in three years, not just in the showroom. Whether it will still look right when the light changes, when life happens, when the room around it slowly shifts.

Fabric is the part of a sofa that actually lives with you.

Velvet absorbs warmth differently than linen.
Leather develops a story over time.
Boucle holds its texture long after other fabrics have given up.

The right choice isn’t about what photographs best.
It’s about how you use the room, who uses it, and how much you want to think about it after it arrives. ✩

Warmth is not a color. It’s a decision made a dozen times over - in the grain of a coffee table that was never meant to be symmetrical, in the weight of linen that diffuses afternoon light rather than blocking it, in the choice to let a dark fireplace surround hold the room’s gravity instead of fighting it.

This space earns its ease. The woven pendant overhead doesn’t announce itself so much as it exhales. The circular artwork above the mantle sets the room’s emotional key - ochre, rust, the color of late sun and everything below it takes the note without being told. Dark leather that’s lived in. A chair that invites the kind of sitting where you forget to check your phone.

Some rooms make you want to stay. This is one of them. ✩

Some things we come back to on every project. Not because they’re safe because they work in a way that doesn’t date.

Stone that carries its own geology into a kitchen.
A staircase that moves through a home like a slow exhale.
An arch that softens a threshold without asking for attention.
A fixture that makes you look up before you look anywhere else.
Wallpaper that turns a wall into a reason to stay in the room.

These aren’t trends we’re chasing.
They’re the ones that outlast every mood board, every moment, every “”what’s in right now.””

The homes we love most are the ones where these decisions were made with patience - chosen for how they’d feel to live with, not just how they’d photograph on day one. ✩
