Who knew a pile of leftover insulation foam could actually SAVE you money?! ππ°

Welcome to DAY 2 of my Gaps & Cracks Tips & Tricks series! πΏ

When I fill a container with expanding foam, I usually end up cutting quite a bit off the top once it has fully hardened. I only want so much foam sticking out of my container before I start building my arrangement.

And for the longest timeβ¦ I THREW THOSE PIECES AWAY! π³

Then one day I looked at that pile and thoughtβ¦ WAIT A MINUTE! WHY AM I THROWING AWAY SOMETHING I CAN USE AGAIN?! π€¦ββοΈπ

π‘ HERE'S MY MONEY-SAVING TRICK!

Instead of tossing those hardened cutoffs, I save them and use them as filler in my next container!
β
I simply cut the leftover pieces into sizes that fit, place them inside my new container, and then add fresh Gaps & Cracks around them. The new foam expands into the open spaces and helps hold everything together!

And the BEST PART? I'm only using a FRACTION of the amount of fresh foam I would normally need! ππ°

πΏ BUT WAITβ¦ THERE'S MORE! π

Sometimes I only need to fill one or two containers and still have foam left in the can. Rather than waste it, I'll spray the extra onto cardboard and let it fully cure.

Those become my little FOAM PATTIES! π₯π

I can use them in other projects or cut them apart and recycle those pieces into future containers!

Between the cost of hard green floral foam and how rarely I find it on sale, this little trick has saved me quite a bit of money over time. And now that I'm so comfortable working with expanding foam, I actually prefer it for many of my designs!

β οΈ QUICK SAFETY REMINDER: Always wear protective gloves and eye protection when working with uncured foam, follow the manufacturer's instructions, and allow it to cure completely before cutting or reusing it. Work in a well-ventilated area and keep cured scraps away from heat and flames.
