It's cleaning day in the studio, and everybody's getting ready for their trip to the market! 🧽✨

Meet the wise old owl in the middle. Scrappy? A little. He's got some scuffs and a few stories, but after a good scrub he cleaned up nice, with a gleaming brass beak, a brass flower on top, and engraved brass wings on his pewter-tone body. He's a vintage tea caddy, and he opens up, with his whole head as the lid. 🦉

And look at the company he keeps: a carved wooden duck bookend with a brass bill, a wooden jewelry box with a duck on the lid, and a little brass duck paddling across a wooden box. A whole flock of friends, all spruced up and ready to go.

They'll be hitting the shelves at Rusty Gate Flea Market, booth #135, so keep an eye out. 🦆

Another weekend, another carload. 🚗💨

The car is getting full, but there's still a little room for "just one more." (We'll see how long that lasts.)

Peeking out of this packed car: a gorgeous wooden bread box (that's the beauty on the left), a couple of wooden recipe boxes just waiting for someone's handwritten family favorites, an old California Fruit Growers Exchange crate, and a BOATLOAD of brass. Lamps, yes, but so much more than lamps. ✨

Everything needs a good wash, a polish, and a little love before it hits the shelves, so stay tuned. The brass is going to be gleaming.

See what's already out at Rusty Gate Flea Market, booth #135.

She's lit. 💡 (Literally.)

Meet the dragonfly lamp. The Tiffany-style leaded glass shade glows in fiery reds and ambers, with little blue and green glass jewels and textured green leaves, and the dragonflies have dotted wings you'll want to lean in and look at. She sits on a cast metal base with roses and acanthus leaves on the foot.

Fun fact: the shade and the base started out as two separate pieces, and I think they were meant to find each other.

She works, she glows, and she throws a little rainbow on the wall like she knows she's pretty. The shade is about 14 inches across, so she'll be the star of any side table, sofa table, or bedside corner.

Come see her in person at Rusty Gate Flea Market, booth #135. Message me with questions!

Meet our ugly duckling. 🦢
When she came home with us Saturday, she was the color of a storm drain and about as clean as one. Dust, grime, and decades of who-knows-what caked into every inch of that bowl. She was not giving swan. She was giving "found at the bottom of a pond."
But that neck. That curve. We knew there was something pretty hiding under all that gunk.
So she's at the spa. Yes, that's ketchup. Yes, this is her SECOND ketchup bath. She's a high-maintenance girl and we respect it. And look at that neck starting to glow gold already!
She's not done yet, but she's getting there. Stay tuned for the big reveal.

Pickin' Time on 59 is a wrap, and the car has officially reached capacity. 🚗💨
Two days, a gazillion tiny stops, one overnight in Van Buren, and one very patient husband. Day 1 nearly filled the car all by itself, and then Bill's master plan for Day 2 was to "shop the other side of the road" on the way home. Friends, the man was RIGHT.
The best part, though? Bill and I got some real, much-needed time together. Just the two of us, the open road, and a whole lot of "pull over, pull over, PULL OVER!" 😂 Can't beat it.
The find of the whole trip came today: ACCORDION RACKS! They've been on my wish list forever, and I may have squealed a little. We also crossed off:
✔️ A wooden recipe box
✔️ A little bit of brass (okay, a little bit more than a little 😉)
If you're wondering who's riding in the back seat, that's a dog who hasn't blinked since Gravette, a copper beauty wearing a brass lion, and roughly 400 other treasures stacked to the ceiling.
Howard the Hoard is about to have a serious growth spurt. We'll be sorting, cleaning, and pricing for a while, so keep an eye on the booths at Rusty Gate and on the Etsy shop. Fresh finds are coming! 💛

🎉 IT'S OFFICIAL! In The Attic Designs is expanding at Rusty Gate Flea Market in Cassville! 🎉

You'll now find us in TWO spots — our original Booth #135, plus a brand new Booth also #135 just down the lane! More vintage treasures, more character, same love for the hunt.

And yes... this means Howard's girth is finally getting some relief. 😅 A little less hoarding at home, a lot more for you to discover in person!

Come see what's new — we'd love to have you stop by both booths!

The oddities we find along the way…
This one looked like it had been excavated from an ancient burial site when we found it at a yard sale. But he’s looking pretty spiffy now!

Okay, confession time 🌿

I’ve been “experimenting” with using an old skirted oil lamp font as a propagation vessel for a maranta cutting, paired with one of my little wood oil lamp brackets (the wall shelf kind, with the cutout cradle that holds the font snug)… and I fell SO hard for how it turned out that this combo is officially not for sale. It found its forever home on my kitchen wall and I’m not sorry about it. 🤷‍♀️

The good news? I’ve got two beautiful pressed glass oil lamp fonts at the booth right now (no skirt on these, just gorgeous pressed detail on their own), each one already showcasing a little propagation of its own! One’s sitting up top on the display case… the other is hiding on the top interior shelf behind a little frog friend. 🐸 Think you can spot them both?

The skirted ones and the wood brackets are still at home with me for now, but keep an eye out — they WILL make their way to the booth soon. 👀

Come see the fonts (and their little plant babies) in person! ✨

When boiling water outperforms a toothbrush AND Goo Gone… 😳🔥

I’d already spent time scrubbing these brass candlesticks with a toothbrush and tried Goo Gone on the spray paint — barely made a dent. Figured I’d try one more thing before giving up: a throwaway pot, a rolling boil, and about 15 minutes.

I was NOT expecting it to work this fast. The paint just… slid right off. 🤯 I’m still amazed.

Polish coming next, then these three are headed to the booth!
