Yes, sadly farmhouse is not the same farmhouse we all fell in love with 5 years ago. Have you been wondering how to transition from that lovely white farmhouse look to that beautiful boho inspired vibe we are all seeing?
Simple!!!
🪴 GREEN
Live plants…live plants for everyone!!!! I keep a live plant or two in most of my living spaces. Another great spot that is awesome for this; Incorporating them into a bathroom. Adding pops of green definitely helps bring a boring space alive. 😉
🎨 Subtle pops of color
Rugs are a great place to add that pop! It’s just enough without overwhelming the space. If your up for the challenge, a little paint on the walls is amazing!!! Matching the trim color to the wall color is definitely hot this year and if your brave enough and have those lovely smooth ceilings…yep…you guessed it…the ceiling deserves some of that lovely color too! Just remember sheen on walls is always less than trim (my personal favorite sheen for every wall in my house is satin-a soft and camouflage sheen that helps
Hide this imperfections a little more) and flat is always for ceilings.
🖼️ Art
Yes, I’m sorry to inform you the inspirational
Quote wall hangings are sadly going out. We now have entered the age of frames wall paintings. That’s not to say you have to ditch all of them of course, we all have our stash of Rae Dunn lurking around. 😅 Just remember moderation with this is 🔑 . Best place for these gorgeous things are above the master bed, fireplaces, and for the pretty little ones we see
all over hobby lobby, those cute little plate easel
stands are perfect to place in the corner of your kitchen. I know, it sounds like all of those paintings we took out of our grandparents homes…just trust me!
💡 LAMPS
This one may sound a little strange, but a small little lamp in your kitchen beside that lovely painting…yes…this is a must now! Sounds crazy but if we have to be in the kitchen anyways, we might as well make it nice a cozy…right!?!
🌍 NATURAL ELEMENTS
I love to use elements like cement finished lamps or textured finishes on accent pieces. Such a simple, but great way to accomplish this.
💛 GOLD
Yes, I know we have seen gold coming back in the farmhouse style for a while now. But now it is back with a vengeance! Swapping out simple things like cabinet hardware, a fixture..or two, adding gold accents to your decor etc. These are all easy ways to incorporate a more updated look. Remember…we can mix metals!
Styles are always & forever changing but doing simple modifications to your home can go a long way to making your house look as lovely as can be! 🥰
What tips would you like to see next?
Have an amazing Monday you lovely people!
