There are pieces of home you don’t always notice until you pause long enough to see them.

A quilt at the end of the bed, lovingly made by grandma.
Tiny fingers stretching and discovering the world.
Parents learning the quiet rhythm of their new baby.
A loyal dog, a little older now, still keeping watch nearby.
Light pouring through the window of the room your children will grow up sharing.

There seems to be a theme in saying every session will be calm.
Smiling kids. Perfect light. Everyone looking at the camera.

But if you’ve ever shown up with toddlers, snacks, backup outfits, and a nap that was skipped… you know the truth.

There’s almost always a little chaos.

The difference isn’t whether chaos shows up.
The difference is who’s holding the camera when it does.

If the response is to tense up, rush, or try to force perfection, the chaos will inevitably feel bigger. Overwhelming. Stressful.

But when you have someone who knows how to lean into it?
Who expects the wiggles, the wild laughter, the shy phases, the “I need mom RIGHT NOW” moments?

That’s when the magic happens.

Because life isn’t stiff and silent. It’s movement. It’s personality. It’s beautifully unpredictable.

I don’t fight the chaos. I guide it. I redirect it. I let it breathe.
And tucked inside those in-between moments? That’s where the magic lives.

The giggles mid-meltdown.
The way you instinctively pull them close.
The look you give your partner when you both know… this is your life.

Chaos doesn’t ruin a session.
Handled well, it’s what makes it honest.

Discovering my workflow could be so much simpler by batch editing black & whites?

Game. 👏🏼 Changer. 👏🏼

Not sure why it took me years to discover this, but oh well - I’ll take the win now!

Instead of tweaking every single image one by one, I created one clean, timeless edit and let it carry across each album — and suddenly everything felt cohesive, elevated, and fast.

Less overthinking.
Less second-guessing.
More consistency.

Sometimes the breakthrough isn’t doing more… it’s simplifying what you’re already doing. 🖤

Batch editing black & whites might just be my new favorite studio hack.

These are the days..

The constant screaming “HAT” in search of one, because you want to be just like Daddy.
Looking up and reaching out your hand for me to hold as we walk through the kitchen.
The way you nod your head “yes” so aggressively to answer a question or to show you like a choice.
Putting your hands over your eyes to play “pee-boo” (peek-a-boo) and waiting patiently until we say, “where’s Rhodes?”.
The messy hands and tiny feet and bringing me books.
Pointing out trash cans on our walks.
The way you back into my lap to sit down and wriggle yourself out of tight cuddles.

I want it all in a bottle with a bow.
My best days.. and hopefully yours, too.
