And I thought I was a tall Clockmaker! (7’2”) I know he wasn’t a clockmaker but seeing this picture made with him next to a gallery clock seems striking.

8ft 11.1in (2.72m) tall Robert Wadlow leaning on a clock in a hotel lobby during a visit to St. Petersburg, Flordia in 1940. Robert Wadlow is the tallest person that has ever lived.

So the big mystery is revealed! ET is really the eyes of a lion on this animated dial dating to the mid-eighteenth century. A very rare and unusual dial to depict animals in an aggressive and positive subject! During that time period most animals showed up dead or recently hunted in clock dials. Very interesting.
