Now you know! It all started with a cheeky graphic designer.
"Racing Sausages fun facts and trivia:
🌭 They started as cartoons on the County Stadium scoreboard in the early 1990s.
🌭 Milwaukee graphic designer Michael Dillon suggested bringing them to life. He made the original costumes himself.
🌭 Their first live race was June 27, 1993. The scoreboard animation stopped, the left-field gates opened, and three giant sausages ran onto the field. Even the players and umpire hadn’t been warned.
🌭 The original lineup: Bratwurst, Polish and Italian. Hot Dog joined in the mid-1990s. Chorizo tried out in 2006 and became a regular in 2007.
🌭 Hideo Nomo, Pat Meares and Geoff Jenkins are some of the players to boast "Racing Sausage" among their personal accolades.
🌭 They have official bios, according to the Brewers: Bratwurst trained for the Olympics, Polish coached high school cross-country, Italian is the suave crowd favorite, Hot Dog finished three Boston Marathons, and Chorizo trained by running with the bulls in Spain.
🌭 Dillon wore the Bratwurst costume and won the first race. He deserved it."

For the FIRST TIME EVER, Milwaukee’s famous Racing Sausages will be part of the World Series!

They’ve been racing since 1993, but they’ve NEVER experienced a Brewers World Series… until NOW!

Guess who’s also excited to make an appearance at the World Series?! Yes, the Milwaukee Brewers' Famous Racing Sausages! ⚾ 🌭

The Racing Sausages made their debut in the summer of 1993 at County Stadium. Since then, the Bratwurst, Polish Sausage, Italian Sausage, Hot Dog and Chorizo have become an iconic part of Milwaukee Brewers home games.

The original Mr. Bratwurst, shown here, along with the other original 1993 sausages, Polish and Italian, are eagerly awaiting conservation care. Once restored, they will be proudly displayed in the new Wisconsin History Center here in Madison.

Good luck to the Brewers! Here’s hoping the 44-year wait to play again in the World Series ends with the Brew Crew becoming World Series Champions!

Fun fact: the Milwaukee Brewers’ Famous Racing Sausages stand about 7’ tall.

One basket of pine cones collected this month covers Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Spiders for the porch in October. Centerpiece and place settings for the Thanksgiving table. Ornaments, garland, wreaths and a stack of homemade gifts for December. Same basket, same afternoon of collecting.
The trick is getting them ready properly right now so they're not a disappointment (or a surprise) later. There's one step before they come inside, and a right way to store the leftovers so they're perfect next year too.

A Chicago windstorm nearly ended Sally Schwartz's antique show dreams in 1995. Flying rugs, collapsing tents, and scattered antiques made her question whether she'd ever host another outdoor event.

But Sally wasn't finished. Today, her Randolph Street Market is one of the Midwest's best-known destinations for antiques and vintage finds.

Discover how she built a market that keeps collectors coming back.
