More often than not at my workshops, I live in the moment. I soak it all in— teaching, sharing, laughing, watching all those present in class create their own art. I don't take a lot of photos, almost never actually, except for a couple of shots at the end of class. Sometimes, I take none at all.
There was a moment yesterday, when Rheme of pulled my attention to my workshop students all lined up outside, waiting for their turn to rinse their silks. They were happily chatting about how they'd use their silks—admiring each other's works, sharing different ways as to how they'd style the pieces. It was such a joyful moment to watch and I soaked it all in before capturing it. The line had moved by the time I took my phone out, and most of my students went back inside to dry their silks.
Here's the tail end of that moment, one filled with so much joy and good energy— the kind that fills my cup back at the end of a class to do it all again. ❤

At my 1st workshop back in March in this very space, I did not know it would be my last Saturday with my dog, Xavi. I was supposed to stay the night in LA but I drove back home to him instead. In Xav's senior year, I just made it a point to adjust my schedule and life completely around him. We had no inkling though that just 6 days after that Saturday, he would take his last breath on my lap, his paw in his Dad's hand.
I knew yesterday was going to be tough but somehow, I just felt him so much in class. I asked him for a sold out class and 30 minutes before I pulled up to Abbot Kinney, the last seat sold on my website. I met Foxy, a sweet husky who stayed with her mom the whole class and greeted me by sniffing my legs and burying her face against me, settling on my feet before going to their seat. I somehow got such a sweet group of women— the kind who did not shy from sharing the warmest hugs and kindest words. And I went home with a special gift— a custom necklace made by one of my students who took the time to create a piece in honor of Xavi simply because she saw my posts of him after she signed up for my class.
I find myself asking this more and more lately— But really, how did I get so lucky? ❤️
