✨ From Inspiration to Transformation - From Faux Columns to NO Columns✨

Sometimes, you just know when you’ve found the right materials. 🤎

During our vendor visit, we were selecting finishes for this bathroom remodel when we paired these warm terracotta tones, natural wood, and creamy terrazzo-inspired surfaces. The combination immediately felt right, and we knew from that moment that these were going to be the perfect selections for the space.

And then came the transformation…

We took a dated, tired bathroom and turned it into a warm, elevated, and timeless space with layers of texture, natural tones, and beautiful details. From the custom cabinetry and countertop to the brass hardware and soft textiles, every element was intentionally selected to create a cohesive and inviting retreat.

One of our favorite details in this project is this original door — a piece of history that has been part of the home since it was first built. Instead of replacing it, we carefully preserved and restored it so it could continue to tell the story of the house.

Because we stayed true to the home’s original character throughout the remodel, integrating pieces like this felt seamless. Thoughtful design isn’t just about what’s new — it’s about honoring what already exists.

Homes in Kensington are some of the oldest in San Diego, and they carry an incredible amount of history and charm. It’s important to us that when we remodel these spaces, we preserve those elements so the character of the neighborhood continues to shine for years to come.

We’re excited to share the completion of our first commercial design project — a fully reimagined hair salon ✨

While residential design will always be at the heart of what we do, stepping into the commercial space has been both energizing and inspiring. Designing for a salon means thinking beyond aesthetics — we carefully considered workflow efficiency, durable finishes, optimal lighting for true-to-tone color application, client comfort, and cohesive brand identity. Every square foot was intentionally planned to elevate both the stylist experience and the client journey.

At the beginning of each year, we challenge ourselves to integrate something new into our portfolio. Growth requires movement. It requires stepping outside of the familiar and applying our design expertise in new ways. This project represents exactly that — pushing our creativity, expanding our capabilities, and continuing to evolve as a firm.

We’re excited to share the completion of our first commercial design project — a fully reimagined hair salon ✨

While residential design will always be at the heart of what we do, stepping into the commercial space has been both energizing and inspiring. Designing for a salon means thinking beyond aesthetics — we considered workflow efficiency, durability of materials, lighting temperatures for accurate color application, client comfort, and overall brand identity. Every square foot was intentionally planned to support both the stylist experience and the client journey.

At the start of each year, we challenge ourselves to embrace something new. Growth requires movement. It requires stepping outside of the familiar and applying our design principles in new contexts. This project represents exactly that — pushing our creativity, expanding our expertise, and strengthening our versatility as a firm.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to bring this vision to life and look forward to continuing to evolve — in residential spaces and beyond.

This remodeled laundry room is anchored by a classic pattern with a modern twist we designed for the floor. We strived to create visual interest and a sense of playfulness, while maintaining a timeless appeal. The introduction of a checkered design helps brighten the smaller space, giving it a lighter, airier feel while still remaining warm and inviting — especially important as this room often serves as an entry point into the home. We balanced it out with a tile backsplash (going to the ceiling) that is beautiful with a subtle texture doing a 70/30 split of matte vs. glossy finish to enhance the look. We upgraded the laundry room faucet to a convenient pull-down style to improve ease of use, and incorporated a mix of open and closed storage to maximize functionality. The result is a space that offers significantly more storage and counter space, along with updated features that enhance efficiency and everyday use.

What once was a shared “Jill and Jill” bathroom — connected through the shower— has been thoughtfully, reimagined into two separate yet cohesive spaces. Each bathroom now features its own larger shower, offering both privacy and comfort, while maintaining a harmonious design language between the two. Subtle variations in finishes and details were intentionally introduced so each space reflects the individuality and personality of each daughter, all interpreted through a sophisticated and timeless lens. The design took shape by carefully not only considering the architectural character of the home, but also the specific wants and needs of the family. Equal attention was given to sourcing high quality plumbing fixtures that balance durability, performance, and refined aesthetics. Knowing this was their forever home guided every decision, ensuring the result felt personal, functional, and enduring — spaces designed to grow with them for years to come. 📸:
