We pass along 150-225 year old pioneer-made reclaimed barn beams to home owners, designers, contractors and builders all over Texas. We custom-build console and coffee tables, mantels, shelves, ridge beams and more - from our beams. We're also an 1800's-inspired Antiques & Mercantile shop with unique foods, Amish non-pasteurized cheeses, unique jellies, pickles, chocolates, bourbon products, a wide variety of Amish popcorns, goats milk soaps, uniquely crafted coffees and teas, wheat berries for grinding your own nutrient-rich flours, a wide variety of honeys, vinegars, syrups, taffy and other old fashioned candy, candles and linen sprays, Victorian & farmhouse-inspired home decor and jewelry, and more.

Rest? Steve & I have had THREE 1/2-days off since July 3 … 15 hr days - outdoors in 100 degree heat (building Pioneer Village & fulfilling beam orders). Taxing … but we’re blessed. But by 3pm today, we RESTED at 𝒯𝒽𝑒 𝐹𝒶𝓇𝓂 𝒶𝓉 𝒜𝓁𝓊𝓂 𝒞𝓇𝑒𝑒𝓀 in Stockdale, blocks from our home. It’s FILLED with CHRISTMAS TREES 🎄🌲🎄🌲 pumpkins-galore 🎃🎃🎃, breezes, campfire 🔥, and we loved every minute of it.

In fact, we’ve chosen (or earmarked) our new MERCANTILE’S multiple Christmas trees for our porch, mancave loft, etc … AND our GIANT tree for our Old Fashioned DICKENS-like Pioneer Wood Company TREE LIGHTING EVENT … that YOU’Re invited to be a part of, at PIONEER VILLAGE in La Vernia at 8915 Hwy 87 between LV & Sutherland Springs. WE KNOW OLD FASHIONED good ol’ days & good ol’ ways & treating yall to a GOOD OL’ time!!

(Now we just need to wrangle Brandon to shuttle that huge tree to the Merc in our HORSE (or cow)- DRAWN 1800s WAGON from the Alum Creek Farm to our new shop! I’ll include a video in the comments below ⬇️ of him and wife Shaelynn carrying my late-mother’s Christmas tree in our wagon in the LV Christmas parade 🎁❤️🥹, and him pulling our same wagon BY COW in the LV July 4th parade)

I think I can get used to resting a 1/2 day every month - but perhaps Steve & I can squeeze in a few more hours? 🧐

Next Sunday (Oct 18th) - we’re taking a bottle of w**e 🍷 to Alum Creek farm to sit on that picnic bench and watch the pine trees EXIST.

INSULATION DAY & ArMando's Pizzeria! La Vernia’s Pioneer Wood Company’s NEW MERCANTILE is getting a beauty treatment today! The crew from 31-W Insulation carefully wrapped all our 200 yr old settler-made barn beams, and got to work spraying insulation! I can’t believe the dramatic change already!

Next up this week - SHEETROCK by Richter! Then we’ll PAINT 🎨 and really transform this sweet 200 yr old barn into a stunning mercantile, w**e/c***r/Tea/Cactus Land B**r room, Pop's Ice Cream, and Brooster’s Coffee new UNPLUGGED coffee house!

Get ready for major changes at a more rapid pace! 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🔨🔨. And thank you to everyone who’s driving by honking every day, commenting, and liking ❤️🥹 It’s really encouraging to Steve and me.

I’m IN the fireplace ‘til our insert from Triple W Products gets installed, and SouthTex Propane hooks it up

Looking forward to putting ROCK all the way up the 25+ foot tall wall, and the SURPRISE we’re hanging where my hand is pointing … the official mascot of Pioneer Village (can you guess?).

There will be 4 large leather club chairs parked right in front - ready for you, with Pop's Ice Cream 🍨 counter about 15 feet away - literally staring at you … taunting you … challenging you to tackle 3 scoops🍦or their BEAST of a banana split.

If you’re not an ice cream fan (what’s wrong with you?? 🧐🥸) Bending Branch Winery w**e, Hill Country C***r House, Old Barrel Tea Company, Cactus Land Brewing Co., The Toasty Lemon charcuterie, and Unplugged coffee (Brooster’s Coffee) with FRESH out-of-oven IN-HOUSE pastries … will all be just a measly 20 feet away (I’m sorry we couldn’t make them more convenient for you from the leather chairs and fireplace 🤷‍♀️😔🙃).

Or grab some Team Birria Taquitos y Más Birria tacos, fajitas, Mexican burgers, ramen and other surprises out in the parking lot!

(Sigh … 😮‍💨. ) Just a few more weeks until you’ll be prying ME out of the chairs, cuz the Good Lord knows I’m about ready to SIT DOWN for a minute 🏃‍♂️😏🔨

HOUSTON/Galveston-area bound! Stunning 9x12 and 9x9 beams to create what we call a “mantel surround” (2 vertical beams holding up mantel), AND a 10”x16” SOLID BEAM COFFEE TABLE got loaded up in our client’s truck heading for their new home today! Loved seeing how thrilled the couple was.

When they first reached out to me, they asked if I could “send them pictures” of our beams for mantels so they could choose. I said no - they’d really need to make an appt with me for a tour of the beams, and it would make sense when they arrived. Sure enough, they were blown away by the number of beams, the options, and how absolutely unique each beam is.

I love watching customers look around and getting to know what their own preferences gradually morph into as they see the unique characterizes per beam.

As soon as this couple spotted these 2 particular beams, both were instantly on the same page and loved them. They were so excited about what their mantel will look like, and now want more beams for their house.

More Reclaimed beam & siding/flooring orders out the door, and we’ve met lots of customers at the warehouse to select “the” mantel - or ridge beam, or for Steve to construct BOX beams for them. We had several out of town builders come as far as a few hours away this week to choose beams for barndo projects or spec homes or to fulfill a client’s very specific desires. (One client is coming from 5 hours away to choose.) A huge pile of RECLAIMED FLOORING got loaded onto a builder’s trailer to put on a CEILING, and local designer R&R Services sent us the finished image of her client’s mantel in its new home

Steve also made a hayfork CHANDELIER (⬇️) for a client this week, like the one we made that hangs in our current mercantile. Busy week!!

We’re getting client-work DONE ✅ while simultaneously finishing our PIONEER VILLAGE 🪓🔨 mercantile and tavern/w**e/Tea room … and Unplugged coffee shop (that is owned and run by La Vernia’s beloved Brooster’s Coffee) … all located at 8915 hwy 87 west in La Vernia (see our page for videos and pics - and see videos and pics of Pioneer Village in the comments below ⬇️) . We’ll be moving our original mercantile & tasting room down 87 to this new 3-acre location to be ANOTHER tavern and classroom/event room, and adding other structures and community surprises as well. Fall fun at La Vernia’s mercantile! 🍁🍂🕺🏼Here are only A FEW of our MANY options! I brewed the PEACH PIE TEA yesterday - and poured over ice.m; if you love the aroma of pecans & cinnamon 🎁☕️ you’ll love the smell of this tea. We also have Apple Empanada tea, Bourbon Brew, and a dozen more … and loads of Fall Door County Coffee options. Amish Apple Butter and Sweet Potato butter … drink mixers for tea, sodas or cocktails or c***r , gourmet salts … soaps, candles, books, and much much more.

We’ll be MOVING THE BUILDING to our new location at PIONEER VILLAGE on 87 SOON! (8915 hwy 87 west). So come enjoy the little original mercantile while you still can!
