Semper Fidelity

Semper Fidelity I bring you sound systems engineered with the resourcefulness, and to the standards, of a US Marine.

Every year, on the 3rd of July, my mother used to drive me and my brother up and down Lincolnway. We would drive up and down and we would bask in the sense of community. People put their spots out, settle their little place to watch coming parade, and just… got along. For the most part. People would talk to each other, smile and wave. Act like neighbors.

Today we are a nation. Today we suspend our disbelief and just salute the ideals that our flag stands for. The rest of the year we are perfectly aware of how we come up short to those ideals, but today we just celebrate. LaPorte Indiana is the very epitome of this.

I want you to know that there is nowhere else like this. We are a proud example of what a liberated civilized society can be. You need to remember this, and keep it in mind for the rest of the year, because without this day stamped into our memory we may forget just how lucky we are that we are on this end of these terrifying weapons of war. No land craft on this Earth can go without rattling at the knees when one of these flies over. We experience the opposite, and we experience that because we are a united people under the very flag of the free world.

God bless America.

So, I don’t like to brag, because it’s just beneath me to be like that. Its a difficult trick, keeping a state of beginner’s mind, and the second I brag I lose it. I am proud of being always ready to learn something new, so it makes me nervous to talk myself up at all. However, in order to market a business, I need to brag just a little, or no one will know. So…

This week I reminded myself of why I call myself “engineer” and not “tech” or any of the other titles I could give myself when launching this company. Besides on paper credentials, of course. In my truck, a 2008 Trailblazer, I have installed a system that is to be a business card of sorts. Well, I am on a VERY tight budget, and so I have to do everything in as creative a way as possible. Installing the speakers is no problem. Running the wires, hiding everything, no problem. I can even “find” the little interior panel clips and all that. However, every audiophile knows that a listening environment is the foundation of any sound system. In fact, if one wanted to upgrade their sound system but had very little money, I would suggest acoustics first.

But sound treatment for a car is really expensive. In fact the very cheapest option available is figuring out to about $150 a door, and then about $750 for the rest of the vehicle… just for acoustics.

NOT ANYMORE. I have in my vehicle currently a working prototype of an acoustics system that has successfully worked to better effect than the professional industry standard. Using my understanding of sound, and how the energy of sound works in a system, I have built a system of acoustics treatment that not only effectively silences the noise and phase cancellations of the interior, but is also VIRTUALLY FREE compared to EVERYTHING currently out there.

I have searched the web’s forums and youtube posts, no one else is doing what I’m doing. That is why I am an engineer: I can use my knowledge and experience to create whole new methods and systems. It feels good, because I haven’t been in music in years, and now I’m back to inventing and developing and learning.

Anyway… I think I’m gonna giveaway a free vehicle acoustics treatment service. Haven’t decided yet. I’ll let you know :)

Jeff Schultz! Tou are the winner of the raffle for the free installation!

Go ahead and let me know when you have time to stop by and show me your vehicle, and we’ll get an idea of where to go from there!

Audiophile find of the week: Daisuke Tanabe.

This is a Japanese producer and electronic musician who specializes in a VERY detailed and dynamic style of experimental music. The sound design is asmr quality, and the beats are both danceable and capable of letting you zone out in the passenger seat. Full of energy and sharp details, but also somehow extraordinarily calm, this music earns the zen moniker that the Japanese warrior is known for.

I recommend the 2018 EP “Cat Steps”.

You see how these little details are kind of messy?

About 80% of a truly classic stereo installation is in the way that the stereo sounds. It’s the finishing touches that make the remaining 20%. To see how I polish off these, and more, little touches, follow this page. I’ll be posting videos and tutorials on how to make a stereo installation capture that “clean” look and feel that seperates the professional install from the average rattle-trap noise machine buzzing down your street at night.
