True style is less about following trends and more about honoring what feels authentic to you. Fashion, décor, hobbies, even the way you live your life—all of it becomes timeless when it reflects who you are at your core. Trends may fade, but authenticity endures.

Dorothy Draper never trafficked in cliches. She dealt in declarations.

Draper's interiors were bold because she was. She pioneered a style that refused to be quiet. At a time where women were often relegated to the background - both in society and design - she painted the background acid green and lacquered it to high gloss. She wasn't trying to emulate European restraint or play by the rules of good taste. She was rewriting them. With dramatic contrasts, theatrical scale, and colour stories so decisive they verged on political, Draper made it clear: a room shall never be vague. It should say something. Clearly.

To design with personality is not to clutter or confuse. It is to resist the homogeny of trend. It is to ask: what matters here? What feeling is being built? What memories are given room to remain?

A beautifully styled space will age. A truly personal one will evolve.

We are so often encouraged to aspire to a kind of visual perfection - to smooth the edges, match the tones, iron out the quirks. But the rooms we remember - the ones we ache to return to - are the ones that leave something behind. A smell. A feeling. A glimpse of who someone is when the door is closed and the outside world is held at bay.

Draper's work reminds us that good interiors don't just show you how someone lives. They let you feel what they love for. ❤️
