Is it possible to sell your home during the global virus pandemic?

After 32 years of living in their large custom home, our clients wanted to downsize into a smaller home.

A couple of months ago they found their perfect dream home and after competing with 6 other buyers, the seller accepted their offer to buy their next home.

Their plan was to sell their home after moving into their new home. They completed the move into their new home just one week before the shelter-in-place order took effect on March 17.

Our clients now own 2 homes and their former residence was now vacant and in need of updating, repairs and staging before offering it for sale.

Just after March 17, the restrictions on the shelter in place order were not clear, our real estate industry was not yet included as an essential service and our local board of Realtors did not have any guidelines in place to help us understand how we could navigate moving forward and comply with the rules.

Over the following 2 weeks these rules, guidelines and requirements were defined and our real estate industry was confirmed as an essential business service. We then moved quickly to schedule our team of tradespeople and property inspectors to visit the premises for proposals and cost estimates.

We assisted our client to obtain special financing through our Compass Concierge program with an interest free home improvement loan to cover the upfront costs of preparing the home for sale.

After 6 weeks of coordinating our team to complete the project, this home is now ready for the real estate market.

And the transformation of this home is amazing!
