Our team has been collecting our farmers' hard work this week! The 2026 harvest of Acadian Brown Cotton is just starting to come in and we couldn't be prouder. Ginning has already begun. Be sure to come see us at the Acadian Festival this weekend! We will be in the Folklife Village near the Hilliard Museum.

We need more Acadian Brown Cotton!

Our 2026 yarn sold out in just two days at HGA Convergence this summer, and there's still demand from our online customers and the artisans who are working with this special Acadian fiber.

Right now, we're looking for farmers in the Acadiana region who can help us meet our goal to grow at least 200 pounds of Acadian Brown Cotton in 2027. Planting time is in early spring, but **planning time is now. **

And you don't need a huge farm to participate. You can grow long rows in a field or a few small beds in your backyard.

We'll provide the seed for free, and after harvest, we'll collect your cotton and gin it.

Acadian Brown Cotton has been grown in this region for generations, and it's well adapted to the Acadiana climate. Join the tradition!

We’re excited to be at Festivals Acadiens et Créoles this weekend!

Acadian Brown Cotton will be part of a special tent featuring folk craft demonstrators, where you can see Acadian Brown Cotton go from fiber to finished textile. We’ll be demonstrating ginning, carding, spinning, weaving, and crocheting, with some hands-on opportunities for you to try it yourself.

We’ll also have artisan-made Acadian Brown Cotton products available for purchase.

This special opportunity is nationally sponsored by the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage, and we’re so excited to share the Acadian Brown Cotton tradition with you!
