We’ve been a little too busy celebrating to get around to posting about our night at the Golden Nugget Awards! ✨

We are incredibly grateful to see Inner Peace and Second Time Around recognized as Grand Nugget Award winners. These projects represent so much creativity, collaboration, and care, and we’re honored to see that work celebrated among such an incredible community of designers, architects, and industry leaders.

A huge thank you to the Golden Nugget community for this recognition, and most importantly, to our incredible team who brings these projects to life. We couldn’t be more proud.

Set into the hillsides of Orange County, Inner Peace was designed to feel like an escape, a home deeply rooted in its natural surroundings.

Built on steep terrain, the project could have resisted the landscape. Instead, we embraced it, allowing the site to shape the experience of the home. Every transition was thoughtfully choreographed to create a natural flow from public to private, revealing moments of openness, privacy, and connection along the way.

We’re honored to see Inner Peace recognized as a Grand Nugget Award winner and grateful to have this work celebrated among such an incredible community of architects and designers.

Once a disjointed 1970s townhome, Second Time Around was transformed into a sophisticated retirement retreat, designed to feel both refined and deeply personal. The project required a careful balance of restraint and precision, creating a home perfectly suited for the client’s new chapter of life.

The design was guided by ALA’s four foundational principles: space, proportion, light, and material. Each element was thoughtfully considered to create a home that feels cohesive, timeless, and effortlessly livable.

We’re honored to see Second Time Around recognized as a Grand Nugget Award winner and proud of the thoughtful design behind this transformation.

Reflecting on 20 years of Anders Lasater Architects, we're reminded that some of the most meaningful projects begin with seeing potential where others see limitations.

This renewed Laguna Beach cottage, recognized with a 2021 Luxe Magazine RED Award, is one example of that enduring philosophy.

Designed around a central courtyard, this residence transforms a generous site into a series of interconnected experiences. Gathering spaces, private retreats, and open-air rooms are carefully arranged to engage the surrounding hillside and distant ocean views.

Recognized with a 2020 AIA Honor Award and a 2017 Gold Nugget Design Award, the project reflects a thoughtful response to both site and experience.

20 years ago, Anders Lasater Architects was just beginning to take shape. Today, we’re celebrating two decades of growth, creativity, and the people who have made it all possible.

While our team has changed and grown over the years, each person who has joined us has added something special to the ALA family. Year after year, our family has gotten a little bigger, our work has continued to evolve, and our shared passion for design has remained at the heart of it all.

Here’s to 20 years of projects, partnerships, milestones, memories, and the people who have made ALA what it is today.

Rather than starting over, this Laguna Beach remodel began with a different question: what could the existing structure become?

By strategically opening key walls and rethinking the home's core, the design transformed a neglected 1960s hillside residence into a modern coastal retreat shaped by light, views, and the experience of living by the water.

Good design doesn't always require a blank slate.

Originally built in 1920 as a seaside retreat, this North Laguna cottage was restored for a modern surf-focused family while preserving its timeless character.

Classic cedar shingles and wood windows honor the home’s history, while steel, stone, and natural light bring a fresh modern feel. A thoughtful blend of past and present.
