The Silly Smock is an arts & crafts playroom where kids can develop creativity, learn artistic expression, exercise fine motor skills, socialize, get messy, and have fun! We are a drop-in, drop-off art studio for kids of all ages. I thought of the idea for The Silly Smock because I am an artist and art lover who wanted to share that with my children (and now with your kids too). I understood the i
mportance that arts and crafts have on a child’s physical, emotional, linguistic, and social development. Art is so full of colors and textures and endless possibilities. BUT, art can be messy and as a mother of two small kids I am barely on top of the mess made by clothing, and food, and toys. I REALLY wanted my kids to experience art and paint with all different tools, and use play dough, and glue, etc.… But, I didn’t want to go through all the set-up (to protect surfaces from stains and messes) and cleanup for the spots I missed or couldn’t cover (like the ceiling and the dogs). I really wanted to outsource the mess. So, I searched all around for art classes or art spaces for my son (who was around 1) to experience the fun of beautiful, messy art but I just didn’t find it. So, I came up with the idea of the The Silly Smock. A creative space where you can bring your kids to express their creativity and experience all the fun of making whatever type of artistic masterpieces their hearts desires, with every different type of medium, and you (the parents) can rest assured that your home now has one less mess to clean.
