Architecture Design Collaborative recently completed the vibrant façade remodel of the 87,444-square-foot Hacienda Center in Hacienda Heights, CA. The team delivered a full exterior refresh with modern finishes that bring new life and energy to this expansive shopping destination. Due to the center’s large footprint, the project offered an exciting challenge, further heightened by unexpected conditions uncovered as the old facades were removed. These discoveries made frequent site visits essential, allowing ADC to quickly coordinate with consultants and adjust details as needed. The result is a renewed, inviting commercial environment that strengthens the center’s presence in the community.

Architecture Design Collaborative successfully delivered a vibrant exterior retail renovation in Cypress, California, transforming a former Office Depot into the new Mitsuwa Marketplace. This upscale, boutique market and food hall features five individual restaurant tenants arranged around a welcoming communal seating area highlighted by an abstract tree feature. The market is thoughtfully organized into fresh, frozen, and dry-goods departments, along with a dedicated Nagomi kitchen. Japanese-inspired motifs, graphics, and materials enrich the environment and elevate the guest experience. Although this location had a smaller footprint than other Mitsuwa projects, ADC creatively maximized every square foot to meet the full program with style and efficiency.

Ashley Furniture in Colton, CA, now shines with a full 90,000 sq ft interior and exterior transformation led by ADC. The team reimagined the entire store, refreshing the building façade, enhancing the site, and upgrading the landscaping to create a more welcoming experience. A bold new entry tower and modern digital pylon sign add standout appeal. Despite the challenge of keeping the store open throughout construction, ADC, Hodgdon Group, and Ashley Furniture worked seamlessly together to deliver a smooth, vibrant renovation that elevates both function and style.

Portola Plaza in Mission Viejo has been transformed with fresh activation zones and inviting amenities through ADC’s dynamic retail renovation. The team introduced new pedestrian nodes along the exterior walkway, creating coordinated seating areas—including dedicated seating for Starbucks and other retailers—that bring energy and comfort to the center. Brick pavers and upgraded landscaping soften the overall look, while enhanced entrances for Ralphs and CVS elevate the shopping experience. Despite keeping the center open throughout construction, ADC and Pacific Castle delivered a smooth, uplifting transformation that redefines community-friendly design.

Architecture Design Collaborative is proud to celebrate the completion of The Davis Collection — a vibrant retail center in Davis, CA that brings people, brands, and experiences together.
This 90,000 sq. ft. ground-up retail project brings together favorite brands like Nordstrom Rack, Trader Joe’s, Ulta Beauty, and PetSmart—plus dining favorites including Mendocino Farms, The Melt, and Urban Plates.
Located directly across from UC Davis, this vibrant destination offers the perfect place to shop, gather, and dine in the heart of the community.
It was a pleasure to collaborate with in creating this thriving retail hub for the Davis community.

ADC proudly celebrates the grand opening of Mitsuwa Marketplace Cypress.
Through adaptive reuse, we transformed a former Office Depot into a boutique Japanese food hall and market.
Five unique restaurant tenants surround a communal seating area beneath a striking abstract tree, while curated market departments create a seamless flow from fresh to frozen goods.
Smaller footprint, same rich experience — proving great design thrives within every square foot.

🔨 In Progress: APU Military and Veteran’s Center | Azusa, CA
We’re proud to be reimagining Azusa Pacific University’s Military and Veteran’s Center, a 3,927 SF renovation designed to better serve APU’s veteran and military-connected students.
From a fresh exterior façade to a complete interior transformation, this project reflects our commitment to spaces that inspire purpose and connection.

Bafang Dumpling makes its Bay Area debut in Santa Clara!
Architecture Design Collaborative partnered with the Bafang Dumpling team to bring their first Northern California location to life - a 5,500 sf space that continues to evolve Bafang’s modern identity. Thoughtful zoning and warm finishes create an inviting atmosphere where traditional dumpling favorites meet an all-new rice bowl concept. Congrats to the team on the recent grand opening!
