This is my first posting showing off all my beautiful vintage and antique items. I will start with the story of
“Lady “M”
The old trunk you see on display Marked Lady “M” was purchased from an auction. Inside this trunk was a vast amount of quilts and linens. I did not sift through the contents, as I was mainly interested in just the trunk. All the contents was just a bonus.
I got the trunk home and was eager to see what treasures I might find. Inside were quilts, crotcheted and embroidered linens. As I got further into the trunk at the very bottom, I found ladies dresses, children’s dresses, baby clothes and doll clothes and a pair of baby boots. The clothes were in horrible shape, they were yellowed, tattered and ripped apart.
I became very emotional that somehow through all of these years that this trunk ends up with me.
I restored these pieces by hand washing and repairing every single garment.
Please handle with care, these clothes are very old and hand sewn. Some items are for display only and are here just for the showing. As you can see, I only altered the items by needlework or in the case of the black dress, used fabric bonding, as I did not want to alter any part of the original hand sewing. The brooch on the black dress is original it is hand sewn on the dress.
The only thing I know about this family is from the embroidered “M” on many of the linens.
I hope that those of you that are lovers of all things from the past enjoy this showing of the Lady “M” . Enjoy the pics and if you are interested in any of these
