Yellow, pinks, purples, and reds…we think it works as it is pulled together in the Rejuvenation vintage-inspired Tree of Life motif rug and is offset by the white walls and walnut tones. What do you think? Follow along so you can see what we did color-wise in the en-suite bathroom. Hint, it is NOT a white. 😊

Would you dare paint your bedroom black or another similarly dark color?

I am thrilled I took the plunge and color-drenched this space, including the ceilings and all of the trim. With the tall sloping ceiling and huge Northern-facing windows, plenty of light floods the space, and I wanted the focus to be on the views outside the windows. By painting the walls a dark color and refraining from a contrasting trim color, your gaze is uninterrupted, moving easily from the interior to the exterior and focusing on the richness of the lake and natural views beyond.

To warm up the space and provide contrast, we added walnut wood in the form of an acoustic slat wall and various furniture pieces. We layered in tons of texture in the slat wall, the velvet bed and pillow, linen bedding, rug, and a scrumptious throw blanket.

What do you think? Did we nail the hygge, cozy vibe? Would you change anything?

The whole point of this porch was to get out of the lake’s way.

The 20-foot glass wall opens to this screen-wrapped room with a wood-clad ceiling; the furniture and color palette stay low and quiet, incorporating curves that contrast with the architecture’s sharp lines. The slate tile-clad, limestone arched fireplace and the ceiling heaters are perfect for cool mountain evenings — and the fans help move the air when it is hot.

And when the bugs are at bay, the screens raise completely out of the way — swipe to catch them mid-motion in the last shot.

Would you use a space like this every day, or save it for company?
