June of 2001 I was looking for a location to start a retail flooring store. I found a place in Lake Mary and rented it from one of the best men I have ever met, Dr Jose Barrero. Ray, James, Robert and I moved what little we had into this unfinished shell of a building and started C A Petracca Jr Incorporated. Sadly I can't find my 25 year old photos.
It has been a great adventure, some joyous some sad.
I would like for the business to continue but the way the governments from the city of Lake Mary all the way up to the federal government cheat and steal from small businesses I don't see any one who wants to take a chance and try to open or continue a business today.
I was raised in an Italian family with most in the flooring business, now just myself, a second cousin in California and a cousin from my mothers side are the only ones left still operating.
I'm sure the day will come when the business will close but for now we push forward.
So Happy 25th Anniversary in this location,
Happy 53rd Anniversary of being in business for me.

Been a long few months for me!
We are still here, still working with the same great installers that have been together for decades.
November 14th 2026 my Wife and Partner in our Mom and Pop store passed.
She was loved by all and she was sent to me from heaven as an Angel to look over me, God told me that himself many decades ago.
I just thought it was time to post this.
Remember that Love was the most important commandment!

Lake Mary Florida, rated one of the best places to live in the country!
Not bad, low crime, economically above average. Close to the beaches and attractions.
Well I have a beautiful shop in the downtown area, 1 block from City Hall, Police and Fire station.
I will be 70 next month and would like to lease out my fully equipped storefront to someone younger and more ambitious.
2100 sft stand alone building on corner main road.
54 years in business, 25 in this location.
I just think it's time!
I own everything so anyone serious should contact me.
Want to get out of the Blue states where tax's take a bite out of your butt?
I have done very well here and even though my decision to slow down has slowed my income there is still enough to keep life comfortable. I opened here in my forties and made it through all the setbacks of the 2000's and more, no problem. It could make someone with a little knowledge in the business a ton of money.

Well a friend came by to see me yesterday and asked the allusive question,
When you retiring?
Got me thinking, Do I want to retire?
Can I semi retire and still pay the bills maybe make a couple dollars?
It is a question I have been contemplating for a long time.
Hmmm.
What if I can lease out the store as is?
An already operating flooring and more store that is very well established.
Maybe keep my office and my name and let someone come in and lease the rest? It would have to be their own name and all their own business model. Store, displays and great location.
Interesting thought!
Or do I just hang up the guns and lease the building to a Lawyer or Accounting firm.
I'm entertaining ideas.
If interested let me know your thoughts and ideas.
It would be nice to sleep in once and a while, play music a little more and work on my hobbies. Maybe even take a vacation.
I like what I do so if someone needs a consultant to get running I can help there.
I also have an equipped warehouse with staging, forklift, high 20' ceilings and the standard remnants that could be part of the package or not, doesn't matter the rent is low!

Success isn’t always about fame or fortune—it’s about impact and integrity.
We just don't recognize life's most significant moments while they're happening,"- Moonlight Graham
MICHAEL SHEA

MAY 20

Its movie snippet time again. Field of Dreams is such a classic and since Shoeless Joe Jackson just got his lifetime ban lifted I thought I would pen a little item but Joe is not gonna be my topic. Instead its Doc “Moonlight” Graham.

About three quarters of the way through the Film as Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones stop off in a small mid west town to find “Moonlight Graham”.
Instead of finding the man they are to ferry back to the ball park in the cornfield they find that the man has passed away. The towns people regal Costner and Jones with a lifetime of stories of the ball player turned Town Doctor. Quips about taking care of the sick, giving candy to the children, and buying gifts for the love of his life warm the heart of the two baseball nuts.
Now Graham gets to play ball later on in the film but as I sit in my living room watching the Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays I have come up with a few markers for us from the life of Moonlight Graham:

1. Purpose Over Prestige
Moonlight Graham played just one inning in Major League Baseball and never got to bat. Yet he didn’t chase glory or let bitterness define him. Instead, he became a small-town doctor, impacting countless lives.
Lesson: Your business doesn’t need to be the biggest or most famous to matter. If you’re making a real difference to real people, you’re winning.
________________________________________
2. Play the Long Game
Graham didn’t dwell on a dream that didn’t pan out. He pivoted and poured his energy into something meaningful.
Lesson: Not every plan will unfold how you want. Adapt. Shift your goals if needed. Build something lasting, not just flashy.
________________________________________
3. Character Is Everything
In the film, Graham steps out of the dream world to help a choking child—knowing he can never go back to the field. He puts others first.
Lesson: Integrity, empathy, and doing the right thing—even at a cost—build trust. That trust is a business’s most valuable currency.
________________________________________
4. Small Moments Matter
Graham’s joy came from quiet acts of service, not grand gestures.
Lesson: The little things—how you treat your team, how you serve customers, how you show up every day—define your business culture and brand.

________________________________________
5. Know When Enough Is Enough
He didn’t obsess over what might have been. He found contentment in a life of meaning.
Lesson: Ambition is good—but chasing endless growth or recognition can burn you out. Know what “enough” looks like for you.
