This living room wears two hats — a warm welcome for clients waiting before their meeting, and a comfortable everyday space for our client at the end of the day. We designed this New Traditional living room to function as a true dual-purpose space: a spot for client meetings, quiet reading, or downtime away from the family watching TV. It’s also a room built for entertaining, with the many events and holiday parties this family hosts throughout the year. This home — and this room — are truly lived in.

Our interior design direction brought in a new sofa, accent chairs, ottomans, artwork, tables, lamps, and accessories, keeping only the desk and curio cabinet — the pieces that already worked beautifully for the clients’ acquired treasures and collectibles. Vintage and antique furniture and accent chairs were sourced from local shops and galleries, and the lamps were found on Chairish, then finished with custom lamp shades from a local shop.

Small, personal choices that make a big difference.

Powder Room
The powder room is the smallest room in the house. It’s also the one where a designer gets to be fearless — where bold choices, unexpected materials, and pure design ambition are celebrated.
This powder bath in an Oregon custom home began as a long, narrow space that wasn’t working. The first decision was to redesign the layout — adding a custom walnut privacy wall to create a privacy zone while giving the vanity area room to become something extraordinary.
And extraordinary it is.
The floating vanity, crafted in a richly stained walnut, houses an integrated quartzite sink and countertop that is backlit from below by LED lighting — the entire slab illuminated from within, glowing like a lantern. The effect is something between a piece of sculpture and a natural phenomenon. A vanity this seamless doesn’t happen by accident. It required meticulous coordination between the cabinet fabricator, slab fabricator, electrician, and plumber — four trades working in precise sequence to bring this single luminous detail to life.
The walls are finished in Venetian plaster in a deep, warm mocha tone — layered and luminous in a way no paint can replicate. A geometric gold leaf design runs throughout the entire bathroom — diagonal lines in gold that catch the light and shift with every viewing angle, wrapping the space in a warmth that feels both intimate and intentional. Glass teardrop pendant sconces with brushed gold accents balance the vanity and offer a delicate, complementary moment.
The custom walnut privacy wall doubles as a display moment — open floating shelves, lit from above, styled with art objects that treat this small room as the considered space it deserves to be.
When every detail is this intentional — the glowing stone, the gilded walls, the custom woodwork — a small room stops being small. It becomes an interior design statement.

Renovation Project: Traditional Design
📍Jacksonville, FL
We love when a client trusts us enough to come back for round two. This guest bath renovation started with a week-long on-site design visit, then continued remotely from there — clear communication and a fabulous GC and vendor team who executed every detail perfectly. It started with one treasured find, a slab of Cristallo quartzite, and we built the whole space around it. The vanity cabinet was custom built from our own vision and drawings, with antiqued mirror set behind hand-woven wire mesh cabinet doors. Old Chicago brick, laid herringbone underfoot. Venetian plaster walls tie it all together. Refined meets reclaimed — classic, traditional elements for a client who knows exactly what they love.

Great Room Tour
Some rooms are defined by their furniture. This one is defined by its fireplace.
In this Oregon custom home, the great room fireplace was custom designed from the ground up — eight trade contractors and vendors coordinated to bring it to life. The result is the visual anchor of the entire home.
With 14-foot ceilings, the design had to earn the height — drawing the eye upward without losing its grounding at eye level. A wide linear gas fireplace sits on a floating white quartz hearth, perfectly proportioned for the scale of the room. Above it, antique bronze metalwork rises the full height of the wall — large-scale panels sectioned by dark horizontal reveals in black metal, creating a bold geometric composition that feels both contemporary and timeless.
The juxtaposition is the heart of it. Antique bronze against crisp white stacked stone. Warm, aged metal against an organic, textured surface. The black metal reveals tie the elements together, and the mounted TV integrates seamlessly into this dramatic feature wall.
What makes a design vision like this possible is the collaboration of gifted vendors who understand the intent behind every detail. Hanset Metal Fabricators — whose artisan metalwork can also be seen in the recent Portland International Airport renovation — brought the bronze overmantel to life with precision and craft. A reveal at the transition between the overmantel and stacked stone allows strip lighting to wash the stone at that junction. The same backlit strip lighting washes the walls behind the floating shelves. These are the details most people feel without ever knowing why.
As a designer, we worked through several elevation studies — and the version we built was the first one Jennifer drew. Sometimes the right interior design solution reveals itself early.
Eight vendors. One fireplace. The defining statement of the home.

Wet Bar Tour
A wet bar in an open floor plan has to earn its place. It needs to function perfectly and hold its own visually in a room where every detail is on display.
This wet bar in an Oregon custom home does both — with a level of material drama that stops you the moment you see it.
The design centers on titanium granite — a bold, dark slab with sweeping white and gold veining selected not just for the countertop, but carried up the backsplash and used as the backing inside the upper glass-front cabinets. The stone reads differently at every angle: working surface, dramatic vertical element, and backdrop that makes the crystal barware above glow against it. One material, three distinct expressions.
The lower cabinetry is crafted from white rift cut oak in a deep blackened Coal stain — dark, rich, and deliberate — with brushed gold pulls that warm the palette just enough. Positioned alongside the home’s dramatic white stacked stone column in this Pacific Northwest open floor plan, the dark bar creates a striking contrast that defines the entertaining space without closing it off.
The upper cabinets are glass-front with brushed gold metal frame trim, lit from within — elegantly displaying the owners’ crystal barware against the titanium granite behind them. A glass-enclosed w**e room between the stone columns opens to both the wet bar and the great room, creating a layered connection to the vineyard views that draws the eye through each beautifully designed space. A window between the counter and the upper cabinets draws natural light directly into the bar, elevating the depth and richness of this entertaining space while honoring the cohesive design story we set out to create together with the owners from the very beginning.
As a designer, this is one of the most satisfying problems to solve — function, storage, and drama in one interior design solution.

Pool House Tour
Some rooms in a home are asked to do more than one thing. The pool house in this Oregon custom home is asked to do three — and it delivers on all of them.
A pool entertaining space, potential guest quarters for extended stays, and a gathering spot for card games and watching the game. Large picture windows surround the room, capturing vineyard views in every direction while flooding the space with natural light. A double sliding door opens the interior directly to the lanai and pool beyond — creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor entertaining.
The kitchenette was designed to be fully self-contained. A built-in refrigerator, dishwasher, icemaker, and microwave — along with dedicated storage for cleaning supplies — mean a guest could stay for an extended period completely independently. Nothing was left out.
The cabinetry follows the same warm palette as the rest of this Pacific Northwest custom home, keeping the space cohesive without feeling like a repeat. But this room also got its moment. A full-height Ann Sacks decorative tile feature wall above the sink zone — a dark, charcoal-toned tile with a dimensional ribbed texture that nods to the peak-like quality of the mountain views outside — anchors the space and frames the mounted TV above. Against the light cabinetry and white quartz marble-look countertop, the contrast is dramatic without overwhelming a room that needs to function for so many different uses.
This is the kind of interior design challenge we find most satisfying as a designer — finding the balance between functional enough for daily living, beautiful enough to feel intentional, and flexible enough to serve whatever the moment calls for.

Custom dining room built-in: from dated storage to a designed focal point ✨
This Portland South Waterfront Condo needed better storage, but we wanted something that felt unique to the space. The existing piece and country-style accessories no longer fit the clients’ updated home - so we designed a custom buffet that became both a functional storage solution and a focal point for the room.
A project like this doesn’t happen alone - 11 trades, craftspeople, and vendor partners helped bring this design to life. Teamwork truly makes the dream work.
