There is a difference between a finished interior and a considered one.

A finished interior is all about looks. A considered interior pays attention to how materials, proportions, light, color, and daily life connect.

At Echo Lake, tumbled limestone, Manhattan Oak, Calacatta Viola, and Alba tile set a strong foundation. Dark accents, warm metals, layered lighting, and unexpected details keep the palette from feeling too predictable.

The heart of The Sanctuary house begins with balance.

In the kitchen and living room, a minimalist Japandi style blends with the cozy feel of Bali, using natural stone, warm wood, neat cabinets, and soft colors.

These spaces were designed not as two separate rooms but as one open, calm, and connected space. A place to gather that still feels like a peaceful getaway.

Experience The Sanctuary in person at the NW Natural Street of Dreams®, September 11–27.

Trust us... statement lighting is the move.
At Royal Oak Retreat, lighting does more than illuminate the rooms. It draws the eye through the entry, softens the scale of the vaulted spaces, and gives the dining room its focal point.

Which light caught your eye first?

A spa can be beautiful and still fail at the one thing it was built for: making you feel better.

Home wellness is one of the harder design problems we take on, and one of the more interesting, because appearance is the smallest part of it. Temperature, airflow, humidity, drainage, material performance, and the movement between hot and cold all decide how the room actually feels to be in.

At High Bridge Wellness, the sequence was planned as carefully as the rooms. Sauna and steam lead to a curbless shower and cold plunge, then to places to lie down, gather for dinner, or sit outside by the fire.

Dark stone and warm wood set the atmosphere. The planning is what makes the ritual work.

A home spa should not only photograph well. You should leave it feeling better than when you walked in.

How do you make a concrete exterior feel warm?

You don’t hide it. You give it contrast.

At Snowberry, charcoal cladding breaks up the concrete surfaces. Warm wood defines the entry, while Japanese-sourced Gendai wood lines the soffits above the covered outdoor spaces. Glass railings keep the forest in view. Grasses, shrubs, and large boulders soften the transition from home to hillside.

That same balance continues at the back of the home, where an outdoor kitchen, hot tub, and fire pit create a setting designed for year-round use.

Concrete gives the home its weight. It simply does not carry the exterior alone.

Twenty-two homes are part of this year’s NW Natural Street of Dreams. If you don’t know where to begin, start with these four.

1. Fridhem combines warm wood, plaster, natural stone and glass across more than 5,000 square feet.
2. Stillwater Vista plans daily life around Oswego Lake.
3. The Summit brings warmth to a modern lodge without feeling rustic.
4. Skyview makes the western sunset part of the floor plan.

Four homes, each worth seeing for a different reason.

The 2026 NW Natural Street of Dreams runs through August 23, Thursdays through Sundays. Save this list before you go.

Which house would you visit first?

A higher budget can buy more. It cannot buy coherence by itself.

You can have the location, the square footage, the materials, and the views. But when each part of the home is making a different decision, you feel it.

The homes that feel right are resolved as one idea. The home design, interiors, materials, landscape, natural light, and views support each other instead of competing for attention.

You may not walk in and name every decision.

You simply know they belong together.

That is what makes a home feel expensive.
