“We can fix it later.” Well… I’m here to tell you that “later” gets expensive.
My job as your interior designer takes the most shape long before you ever see the finished space. It’s walking the job site. Talking with the trades. Checking measurements. Catching details. Asking questions. And making sure what’s being built actually aligns with the design we’ve spent months planning.
Because moving an outlet today is one thing. Moving it after drywall is another. Changing a detail on paper is easy. Changing it after materials have been ordered, fabricated or installed can cost thousands.
That’s also why I believe there is so much value in having a designer who is local, available and genuinely invested in your project. I want to be able to walk the site. I want the builder and trades to call me with questions. And I want to catch something while it’s still an easy conversation instead of an expensive correction.
You can’t prevent every surprise during a custom build. But being prepared, being present and having everyone working toward the same vision can prevent a whole lot of them.
The goal isn’t to “fix it later.” It’s to get it right while we still can.
