All the tables & chairs were filled with women last Saturday who gathered for a wonderful lunch catered by Klippel's Kozy Korner, what a spread! And delectable deep dish cookies from Lakeview Rustic Creations!
We talked about the significance and importance of personal collections, heirlooms and precious pieces of history, be it family history or archaeological history.
Ladies shared the stories and personal importance of their vintage glassware, lustreware, nativity ornaments, antique jewelry caskets, recipes and baking utensils passed down thru generations, important history books, an example of a rock called chert, historically used for tools, vintage picnic baskets, a cherished Bible saved during a housefire, shell collections, a very touching photo album cataloging the visits of a granddaughter and grandmother every summer, a mother's dog tags from WW II, and even an oak leaf that blew in a barely open car window, in the middle of winter just when a prayer was offered for strength.
In the Bible the oaks of righteousness represent people transformed by God from brokenness to strength... that was exactly what that woman needed.
So many of our collections and saved items have a personal connection with someone or some space in time, a connection that's real and tangible. Thanks to everyone for sharing so many inspiring and meaningful things, things that are truly more than just things. They are a part of our lives for a reason.
