Yikes!! I really need to get caught up on this page. Too many things going on but I will get caught up.

With that being said.. WAIT until you see the Gnome I am going to do. Oh and this one is going to be cute. I may either keep it or sell it.. Going to be a tough decision for sure 🤔😏

Tonight's photos show the Gnomes nose. I used a nylon sock and doll stuffing to make that. Take notice of the pooch. He thinks it's a new toy for him and he is waiting for me to throw it. No Reggie... this not a toy.

I use brown paper and paper maché for the last layer. I picked beige fleece fabric to clothe the Gnome and the plaid for the hat.

First step to finishing is to paint the boots. I used chalk paint in a spray can and then use spray matte to seal it.

The body.... oy! Trying to figure out how to cover the body was fun... Not! As I said before I don't sew but I can use scissors just fine LOL.. so I had to think about this one. Finally came up with the idea to just cut squares, glue them on and the Gnome has clothes on.

To form the body and get the right shape.. I scrunched up papers, used a glue gun and started to glue them on the board that I call the spine. I did find a better way to do this step. More on that later.

Once I had the shape I wanted, I started to cover the scrunched paper with strips of papers to make it look smooth. This step made it easier to apply the paper maché.

At the time I made my Gnome I used a flour/water/glue paper maché mix. Adding glue will help prevent mold from developing.

I don't want to post the picture of the Gnome by the Christmas Tree due to copyrights.

So this technically where it all starts.. My Notes. I have made many changes along the way because when I completed my first Gnome it felt like it took forever. I wanted to find ways to speed things up a bit and I will get to that later on.

Anyway here are my notes...

Welcome to.... The Gnome Home

Just a short story or I hope it will be short LOL.

I have always been a crafter for a long, long, LONG time. Started when I was in my pre-teens. Some knew I had it in me when I started drawing.

Lets jump ahead to High School when I was in Art Class. LOVED Art Class and the Persian teacher Mr. Saari. Had lots of fun doing all sorts of art work. One assignment we had was to make a project out of paper mache. I chose Tweety Bird from the Looney Tunes cartoon. He turned out so cute!!

Now lets get to the present.. I have done just about any craft out there. I can Knit, crochet, love cross stitching, painting. etc. Sewing? Not so much but if it is something basic I can try. Not too long ago I was asked to make Hobby Horses. I was shown a picture and away I went. I made the heads out of heavy socks and by the time I was done the socks looked like Horse Heads. I think they turned out cute. Anyway, when I have been thrown a challenge I will go for it and create. I even helped my Son create a medieval times castle with a moat. The castle was created using mini marshmellos and gray/black fleck stone spray paint. It looked great and he received an A+ for that one.

So lets get to Gnomes. I admit I was not really into the Gnome craze until I had seen one standing next to a Christmas tree in someone's photo. I practiced making some Gnomes using paper mache cones. That is when I got hooked.

Going back to that picture of the one standing I thought about how I could make one. Then the light bulb over the head came on!! I could make one but how? Then it struck me... Tweety Bird. I can make one out of paper mache. Sat down and jotted everything down on paper. Went to Barry with the idea and he and I put our heads together. I needed feet and he traced my feet for the Gnomes feet. He attached a board vertically, which I call the spine. That is all I needed and I was off to create.

I will post pictures of the first Gnome I made. I have made 3 more Gnomes since I made mine and I will post those pictures as well.

This page was, also, created for those who would like one of their own. Here they can follow along and watch as their own Gnome is created.

Thank you for following this page.
