Drying flowers for greeting cards takes about 3-4 weeks. I’m pressing them between wax paper inside heavy books. I love doing this. Trying my hand at the large Clematis my neighbor has. We shall see. Not all flowers dry well. They lose a lot of their color. Just picked the ones in the first photo. Trying marigolds and orchids for the first time.

When your hubby has like 50 t-shirts and you can't get any more in his t-shirt drawer and you have just 2 pieces of left over drapery fabric already cut and a smidgen of interlining, and lots of leftover grossgrain ribbon from sewing up masks at the start of the pandemic, and you're retired and kept all your sewing machines.....this is the 2nd one and I have enough to make a 3rd.

Even though I'm retired I continue to enjoy using my heavy duty equipment for projects. These are chafe guards made from left over boat blanket fabric for our sailboat. They get installed over the dock lines. Still need to add grommets and small line to secure in place. Also made a screen for the companionway that gets attached with Velcro.

Christmas cards are done with pressed flowers and leaves from my yard. Only enough for 7 but that's my lucky number. Same with the pet beds. Funny how that worked out unplanned. Upcycled ribbon and tissue paper with the cards. Ribbon for the pet beds is coming soon and will be donated to Friends of Columbus Humane Society (North Carolina) for a fundraiser.
