Every child wants sober parents—no matter how old they are.
Addiction doesn’t only affect the person using. It reaches into our homes, our marriages, and especially the hearts of our children. They may grow up, move out, start families of their own… but there will always be a part of them that wants their mom or dad healthy, present, dependable, and sober.
Recovery isn’t just about getting our own lives back. It’s about becoming the people our families needed us to be. And while we cannot erase yesterday, God can redeem what we surrender to Him today.
Sometimes rebuilding trust takes longer than getting sober. Sometimes forgiveness takes time. Sometimes the people we hurt need to see consistency before they believe the change is real.
That’s okay. Keep showing up. Keep doing the work. Keep choosing recovery. Keep choosing God.
Your children may be 8, 18, 28, or 48—your sobriety still matters. ❤️
