We’ve been keeping this design a secret for months… and now we finally get to share! 🍨✨

These are the design concept renderings we created for Sundae Social in Byron, Illinois — not photos! Since the public got to experience the finished space for the first time when the doors opened last week, we had to keep this sweet little design under wraps until the big reveal.

Now we get to show you part of the process that helped get it there.

Soft sherbet tones, tropical wallpaper, rattan textures, globe lights, surfboard details, coral paneling, and a curved wood-slat counter all came together to create a space that feels playful, nostalgic, fresh, and so happy.

We designed this project completely remotely from several hours away. Katie and her family are so excited to visit later this summer!

Want to see the real finished space and how closely it resembles these renderings? Go check out . 🍦

Which detail would you pick as your favorite?

A little throwback to the Emerald Cabin Project — a before + after we still love looking back on! ✨

This kitchen already had some beautiful original character, especially the brick fireplace, wood beams, and vaulted wood ceiling. Those were the elements that gave the home its warmth and personality, so we intentionally kept them and worked the updated design around them.

By lightening the cabinetry, updating the flooring, reworking the island, and bringing in fresh finishes and fixtures, the space became brighter and more functional while still feeling cozy and true to the home.

It’s always such a balancing act in remodels: knowing what to change, what to enhance, and what to preserve. In this project, keeping those original cabin details made the transformation feel even more special.

Introducing The Shoreline Project: Butler’s Pantry ✨

This realistic rendering lets us see the full design come together before anything is ordered or installed — the creamy inset cabinetry, patterned tile, brass hardware, warm wood flooring, and brass-veined countertops all working together in one space.

This step is such an important part of our process because it helps our clients really visualize the design, try out material combinations, and feel confident moving the design process forward!

Loving how the Okabena Oasis primary bath is coming together. Soft blue-green tile, warm wood tones, brushed brass, natural woven textures, white stone, and a mix of black accents to keep it grounded…calm, fresh, and just a little unexpected.

This project is really moving now, and we’re hoping to wrap up most of the main level within the next month or so!

👀A little peek at how we get from CONCEPT ---> REAL LIFE:

1️⃣ We start with a design concept in our rendering software, where we’re doing detailed and accurate space planning — not just pretty pictures. This is what sets our process apart from AI-generated design tools. The layout, scale, clearances, specifications, and flow all matter, with a real person behind the design.

2️⃣Then we turn those renderings into full-color visuals using specialized tools — yes, including AI! — to help capture the feel of the finished space in a more photographic way. You can see one of those visuals in the top right of this board.

This step is one of the best parts. It helps us catch issues, tweak details, and make confident decisions before the work happens. It gives our clients peace of mind that the finished space will actually look and feel like what they were envisioning.

3️⃣From there, we translate the rendering into real-life materials and products that actually work in the space with product design boards (which you see here) — the right scale, finishes, specs, colors, and function. Then samples are ordered, reviewed, approved or adjusted… and then the fun part really begins.

We can’t wait to show you more of this one soon!

Roman fabric shades for the win! 🏆

We’re putting the finishing touches on the Checkered Cottage, and these might just be some of our favorite window treatments we’ve ever done.

Funny enough, this fabric was one of the last selections we made, but it feels like the entire room was designed around it. The color, the pattern, the style…perfection. 👌🏼

We can’t wait to show you the rest of this sweet space soon!

Meet The Tipsy House — not to be confused with the original Tipsy House at Arnolds Park. 😉

This bathroom is the first peek at a home that will eventually include more spaces inspired by the fun, whimsical, throwback feel of the amusement park just down the road.

The showstopper? Those soft pink concrete sinks. Add in terrazzo accent tile, Cambria countertops, updated modern lighting and mirrors, practical black stone-look vinyl flooring, a modern open-feel shower, and midcentury details galore… and this original Arnolds Park cabin suddenly has a whole new personality. Swipe all the way over for the 'before'!
