Struggling with the balance over here. Or rather I will be come October. A lot of what I do is B2B ( business to business/AKA wholesale) but I need to be refocusing in October after I complete these large orders for my B2C (business to consumer/AKA retail).

How do you say no and set boundaries with your time?

I have to make sure I have a site ready with inventory for my retail shoppers and my studio shoppers too. This circles back to the scaling craft idea. How much can I with the assistance of my team reasonably make in a year? I can already see how this is going to focus me to reshape and restructure in the new year. Balance my friends. Fight for it. Mental and physical health are important in this thing we call business.

Hearing about local businesses I love and admire hitting hard this morning. The rollercoaster of business and life since 2020 for me has not been for the faint of heart. I opened in 2013. I’ve navigated the pandemic, two trump administrations, the death of my father, moving my mother into nursing care and selling my childhood home and the grief of some friends I’ve lost way too soon all while trying to endure. I’ve been able to completing change the business over the last eight months. The sheer exhaustion of all. Go support a small business today. Support a few if you can.

Our first 300 piece order is almost complete. My ETA for our client was 10 weeks. I began this project July 6th so this week puts me at the 8 week mark. My staff will be back next week to continue firing and glazing. When it’s all complete it will ship on week 11. Half of the order already shipped so my client is happy with our successful turnover.

I’ve been simultaneously working on a second 300 piece project of oil cruets and utensil holders. By the time I leave for a short vacation next week 2/3 of that order will be drying or in various stages of firings. I’ve also worked on restaurant samples which will be our third large order in a row.

After that I need to try to balance holiday work and orders which may mean reevaluating how many wholesale orders I can accept this fall so that I’m able to meet our online and in person shoppers ceramic needs. 🎉🎉🎉

Started the week off right with a quiet morning and proper brunch. Sweet potato with avocado and eggs. Plus sriracha because why eat eggs without hot sauce?! The Luna plates won’t be properly restocked until September but you can always place a custom order so I can add them to my to do list. I have a lot to accomplish before vacation so time to get to it.
