We all have emotional attachments to our belongings. But oftentimes we don’t realize the weight that comes along with those attachments. The very thing that you think is bringing you joy, or fulfilling a need, or giving you options may actually be stealing those things from you.

When you give yourself permission to let go, you truly are giving yourself a gift. There is a sense of freedom and lightness that you will find when you walk into your newly organized space.

If you’re tired of feeling overwhelmed by your closet, if it’s overflowing but you can never find anything to wear, comment PURGE and I’ll walk you through my process to truly release the excess that’s holding you back.

Accessibility is KEY🔑! Whenever you are reworking a space, keep in mind how you will use the items day to day. If you have to move 3 things to get to the one you need then it’s probably not sustainable. For clothing, using a “horizontal stack” method prevents items from getting hidden or lost in the back/bottom of your drawers and bins. 🧺

True Confessions of a Home Organizer: 2nd Edition! Read below for tips on tackling those “I don’t even know where to begin” projects.

Come with me as I go through my (extensive) craft supply collection. These were living in my laundry room and it’s time for an overhaul and a dedicated space. Do I have too many supplies? Possibly…

But this is a good example of how I tackle a project that may feel a bit overwhelming. The first step is to gather all of the items together, whether you’re clearing a drawer, a closet or items that just don’t belong in your living room:

1) grab some bins/boxes to help sort
2) the first round is just to get main categories which could be the rooms they actually belong in or things like “paper”, “toys”, “art supplies” etc.
3) have a trash bag ready too
4) try to get things into the main categories in one sitting. You can come back to it if you need a break before digging into the next phase.
5) once you see what you have in each category, try to clear out (donate/giveaway) items where there is excess.
6) assess what kind of storage options and space you need to contain the remaining items.
7) subcategorize if needed and use a label system whenever possible to help items find there way back home!

🧺 If you’re ready to REALLY purge your closet & get a fresh start then keep reading/watching.⬇️⬇️⬇️

✨Comment PURGE & I’ll send you the checklist!✨

I developed this system to help you zero in on the clothes that you actually like the best & wear the most, not the ones you think you might wear someday…

In order for this to work, you have to fully commit to the process. This isn’t a quick fix you can do one hour at a time here & there. This is a “this is what I’m doing this weekend” kind of thing. ⏳

But when you’re ready, it’s definitely worth it.

THE PROCESS:
1. Catch up on laundry so you have most of your items available to you
2. Grab a large suitcase & set your mind in travel mode
3. Pack the items listed per “trip”, when you finish a section pile those items to the side & do the next “trip”
4. Use 1 laundry basket to place any specialty/sentimental items in that you want to keep
5. Now bag up whatever is left hanging or in your drawers: these are not your favorite things
6. Re-hang/put away the items in your pack piles
7. Load up & drop off your donations right away
8. Now marvel at how much lighter you feel!🥳🤩👏

*if there is an item you think you need but you don’t actually like the version you have, let it go & give yourself permission to go find a better option.

🫙In-drawer spice racks are my favorite storage option: you can quickly access them as you’re cooking, put them right back away, and never lose sight of a bottle in the back of a shelf.🧂✅

You may think you can’t spare a drawer but you’d be surprised how much space you can save by utilizing other storage options such as a ziploc bag organizer that mounts on the inside of your cabinet door.
