After months of work, and an early flop, 🌿Rannen! ‘s case is finished, and what a beautiful piece it is!

Read her artist statement below:

“At first I had no real objective in mind, just letting the clay take the lead, until I realized the space in-between looked similar to shapes made by slot canyons. Now I am inspired to continue down this path in a study of light and shadows by incorporating desert movement into my pieces.

So…. Welcome to the Desert Series, episode 1: Slot Canyon #1 🏜️”

👀 Didn't know a flame thrower would be part of the Throw Big or Go Home Class...

When working with two part pieces, the bottom piece has to be dry and stable enough to take the added weight of the top piece, so we pull out the flamethrower to speed the process up in time crunch 🔥🔥🔥. Attaching and keeping the piece level is the next challenge, and as you can see, this piece did not make the cut 😔.

Our next skills class is Thrown and Altered, link in bio to sign up! We'll make complex shapes that are first thrown and then tailored to fit your vision!
