Its that time if year for the outside events and shows to begin. Here a tip from Dennis for those dealing in costume jewelry also apply to paper and very thin glass including Carnival Glass.
When displaying costume jewelry outdoors in very hot weather, safety and preservation are key. Keep all pieces out of direct sunlight as much as possible—UV rays and heat can fade rhinestones, loosen adhesives, and warp metal finishes. Use shaded tents or canopies with good airflow, and line glass cases with dark, non‑reflective fabric to reduce glare and heat buildup. Avoid sealing cases too tightly; a small ventilation gap prevents trapped heat from damaging stones or plating. Handle jewelry with clean, dry hands, and never spray cleaners or perfumes near the display. Finally, rotate items periodically so no single piece bears the brunt of the sun’s intensity.
