Some days my cup feels empty..
People see the smiling faces, colorful pottery, ice cream cones, and fun family memories.
What they don't always see is everything that happens behind the scenes.
The days you're short-staffed and jump in to cover every position yourself.
Running kilns long after closing because pottery has to be ready on time.
Scraping ice out of freezers before opening.
The panic when a freezer decides to quit working.
Cleaning, ordering supplies, balancing the books, answering messages late at night, and solving problems that customers never know happened.
Reading the occasional negative review from someone who has no idea how much heart you've poured into creating a place for your community.
Owning a small business isn't glamorous. It's early mornings, late nights, constant problem-solving, and wearing a dozen different hats.
But then a family walks out smiling. A child proudly carries home the pottery they painted. Friends gather over ice cream and make memories together. You get a kind message with pictures to use for marketing purposes from a wonderful customer (Rachel 😁). A wonderful new addition to the staff picks up a chalkboard at a garage sale to post the daily specials on without prompting.
And suddenly, every challenge feels worth it.
