Sometimes your morning doesn't require a happy, illustrated mug of flora and fauna...sometimes your morning requires a quietness that still speaks to your favorite critter. I hear ya, and I got ya.

Field note

Some moments in nature are over almost before you realize you’re seeing them.

A flicker of wings.
A flash of green.
A hummingbird hovering for just a breath before disappearing again.

I carved this Broad-tailed Hummingbird as a small invitation to pay attention—to the details that are easy to miss when we’re moving too quickly.

The tiny feathers.
The curve of a wing.
That little moment of stillness between movements.

A 4" handmade tile, inspired by the birds that make our wild places feel a little more alive.

Made slowly by hand, one piece at a time, for someone who finds joy in bringing a small piece of the natural world home.

I sipped morning coffee with this little one this morning . Its a very rare thing to have a wild creature place its trust in you. To just co-exist in one little spot for awhile. I've watched her grow over the summer...she has just grown out of her spots. I sat still and quiet and we simply observed each other, curious about one another. Her Mama was near by and the one who approached for water when we had such a hot spell this summer. Having wildlife trust and draw close is a double edged sword. Our interaction was delightful, but could be detrimental. Out where I live, we live among them. There are no fences to keep them away. They come and go as they please. These Muleys go about their lives and we go about ours trying to leave as little impact as possible.

From a slab of clay to a little piece of mountain meadow. 🌿

Before the color, before the glaze, before the finished piece…there is the carving.

Every stem, leaf, wing, and wandering line is cut into the clay by hand. It’s a slow process—and honestly, that’s one of my favorite parts.

The Mountain Meadow tile began as a quiet piece of clay and slowly became a landscape: wildflowers reaching toward the light, a butterfly passing through, and the feeling of standing in a Wyoming meadow when everything is blooming at once.

Because sometimes a mug just needs a terrible bird pun. 😂

This little blue heron is one of my favorite combinations of wildlife + whimsy—a hand-crafted mug for slow mornings, big cups of coffee, and anyone who appreciates a good dad joke.

The first Meadow Bloom installation. 🌿

There’s something pretty special about seeing a piece leave the studio and become part of someone’s home.

These are the very first installation photos from the Meadow Bloom Collection, and seeing the tiles together in their new space is exactly what I hoped for when I began designing this collection.

Indian paintbrush, balsamroot, lupine, bees and butterflies—little pieces of the Wyoming meadow, made to bring a bit of the landscape indoors.

I wanted Meadow Bloom to feel quiet and natural… something you notice as you pass by, and then find yourself stopping to look at the little details.

This is the part of making that I love most: creating something with my hands, not quite knowing where it will end up, and then getting to see it become part of someone else’s story.

The first Meadow Bloom has found its home. 🌼

And I have a feeling this is just the beginning.
