From a slab of clay to a little piece of mountain meadow. 🌿

Before the color, before the glaze, before the finished piece…there is the carving.

Every stem, leaf, wing, and wandering line is cut into the clay by hand. It’s a slow process—and honestly, that’s one of my favorite parts.

The Mountain Meadow tile began as a quiet piece of clay and slowly became a landscape: wildflowers reaching toward the light, a butterfly passing through, and the feeling of standing in a Wyoming meadow when everything is blooming at once.

Are you heron me? 🪶💙

Because sometimes a mug just needs a terrible bird pun. 😂

This little blue heron is one of my favorite combinations of wildlife + whimsy—a hand-crafted mug for slow mornings, big cups of coffee, and anyone who appreciates a good dad joke.

The first Meadow Bloom installation. 🌿

There’s something pretty special about seeing a piece leave the studio and become part of someone’s home.

These are the very first installation photos from the Meadow Bloom Collection, and seeing the tiles together in their new space is exactly what I hoped for when I began designing this collection.

Indian paintbrush, balsamroot, lupine, bees and butterflies—little pieces of the Wyoming meadow, made to bring a bit of the landscape indoors.

I wanted Meadow Bloom to feel quiet and natural… something you notice as you pass by, and then find yourself stopping to look at the little details.

This is the part of making that I love most: creating something with my hands, not quite knowing where it will end up, and then getting to see it become part of someone else’s story.

The first Meadow Bloom has found its home. 🌼

And I have a feeling this is just the beginning.

Bumblebee on the Move

Found lumbering around my flower baskets.
Moving fast. Low hum. Doing the work.

I couldn’t keep up with him, so I sculpted him in clay.

2x2 tile. Hand carved original, cast and hand-painted by Fire Creek Clay

Small tile. Big presence.
Made to tuck into a backsplash, line a windowsill, or sit on your desk where you need a reminder.

Bumblebees don’t mind you at all...
They just pollinate, persist, and move on, doing their own thing.

I like that.

Field Notes: August 13th
Subject: Indian Paintbrush, Castille ja

Found it on a birthday hike to the Mountain Meadow with friends. Carved it clay and made it to last forever.

4x4 handcrafted tile. Hand carved original design, handpainted, suitable for backsplashes and surrounds. Made to order.

I don't pick wildflowers, I keep them this way.

Where would you put this lovely wildflower? As a keepsake on a shelf or in a tile installation?

There’s something special about seeing handmade tile become part of a home.

A Craftsman fireplace is the perfect setting for my Oak and hand cut field tile work—where natural textures, thoughtful craftsmanship, and the character of the home all come together.

I love creating pieces that feel as though they belong there…not simply added to a room, but woven into its story.
