Its been about 14 months now since we made the very difficult decision to relocate our Hatboro clock shop and clock repair business to downtown Lansdale PA. Although we knew we would greatly miss Hatboro and all the wonderful folks we met there over our 18 years in Hatboro, there were too many reasons we couldn't pass up on the opportunity to move our shop into my home town of Lansdale.
For those that knew our Hatboro shop and all the clocks, tools, and equipment we had there, you can only imagine the massive undertaking it was for us to relocate everything to a new shop. It did indeed take a while but since last June we've had everything set up and we've been back to our full time clock restoration and repair service.
We've been very happy to see so many of our Hatboro customers make the trip to our Lansdale location, some for as little as to just have a single watch battery changed. If you haven't made it to our new shop, we would love to see you, and Lansdale is a wonderful town worth exploring especially if you show up hungry and thirsty.

On Monday we removed the Isaiah Lukens Clock #2 from the Headhouse Building in Historic Philadelphia to begin the evaluation / restoration process. This clock was made in 1819 and is of similar design to the Lukens clock of 1812 in the Loller Academy in Hatboro, PA.

The repair and cleaning of the winding drums is finally nearing completion. The goal here is to remove all abrasive contaminates from the surfaces that are under any pressure while running the clock. Although appearing very clean and shiny is a consequential benefit of the cleaning process, the parts are not polished in any way. Great effort is taken to properly clean these parts without removing any marks left behind from the original manufacturing process. The result is most likely how the parts looked when Isaiah Lukens finished making this clock.

On Thursday, after several months of cleaning and repairing the individual parts, we began reassembly of the the Lukens tower clock in our shop.
