Revisiting this modern classic English-inspired kitchen we designed a couple of years ago. As we develop new designs for new projects, I like to look back at what we’ve done in the past that worked. What I love about this kitchen is the restraint and the commitment to simplicity while still feeling so warm and considered. 🤍

We don’t often do blue…. But when we do, we go all in.

I’ve found myself reaching for blue more and more lately. I think the push towards warm colors in the past few years has made me appreciate the power that blue has to cut through or punctuate a space. It’s the color every client says they love and I think that’s why I always avoid it — I like to see if we can get clients excited about something less universal, something differnt. But in the end, I can’t deny the beauty of a dusty or inky blue.

And those are my thoughts on blue that absolutely no one asked for ✌🏼💙

A nursery with staying power 🤎 Creating spaces for kiddos to grow into is such a fun part of the job. We often add a daybed to a baby’s room so the little one can transition easily when the crib days are over. It also serves as a cozy place for bedtime stories, and somewhere for mom or dad to spend the night when baby needs extra attention.

The ceiling wallpaper in this room creates such a cozy vibe.

Friday cocktail hour in this room would hit different. 🍸🍸🍸

Layers of vintage and one-of-a-kind pieces against the original oak veneer walls is just so warm and inviting. We added a central fixture to bring the ceiling down a bit and make the space that much more intimate.

Fun fact — I sourced this vintage Arne Norrell sofa for one of my projects YEARS ago and that client was moving and reached out to see if we knew anyone that would be interested in purchasing… and sure enough, we did!! Invest in vintage, it’s the only furniture that retains value.

Bright and happy kids bath in our Lake St. project

Handmade indigo clay paper tiles add so much character and the heritage mosiac on the floor feels like it’s always been here. Furniture style vanity for a vintage nod 🫶🏼

First impressions matter when your entry hall is this grand 🤎

Original velvet upholstered walls carrying the memory of art placements from years past. Noguchi felt so right for this home and we repurposed a Saarinen tulip table to anchor the space. Sculpural plant installation from House Of Botanicals added some life. And of course, the twin bathers from Tyler Hays BDDW 🫶🏼👌🏼
