🤔🤔 Does it matter if I vote early or wait until Nov 5? 🤔🤔
🇺🇸 It is time to modernize our perspective: November 5 is *not* election day, but rather the election *deadline*. Election Day is every single day until then. That day is simply the last day. And this election is far too important to procrastinate.🇺🇸
💯 YES! Here are 3 reasons to vote EARLY.✅
✅ 1. Most important in my opinion is that voting early removes all chance of ‘failure’ if voting in person - that is, on the deadline day (“election day”) issues regularly emerge and cause some portion of people who intended to vote to fail to successfully do so (sometimes it’s related to themself - car accident or break down, medical emergency, unexpected work obligation, family emergency etc, and sometimes it’s issues at the polling location - the there have been power outages, ballot shortages, staff shortages/illness, staff arriving late, sudden polling venue change - this happens and can (& has!!) caused voters to fail to vote on E-day. And of course there’s a million other things that can happen to prevent/hamper access to safely voting on the very last day, from blizzards to fires unprecedented & utterly unpredictable events like the recent devastation in western NC to civil unrest (personally, I’m uncomfotable with the current climate of uncivil MAGA rhetoric). Countless other problems can result in 10+ hour long lines that scarcely move, and after poll closing time if you leave the line (bathroom!) then you do not get to return to it. For many with family obligations, work, or health issues that prevent standing for many hours they must leave before they get to vote because they failed to the task done earlier - there is no ‘plan B’ for those who waited until the final day to vote but something went wrong.
✅ 2. Voting by drop off ballot - if you mail or drop off your ballot early, then most states allow the elections officers to review your ballot to ensure everything is acceptable to them. Tens of thousands of ballots get rejected because of a voter error. Forget to sign & date it? Clerk claims the signature isn’t a perfect match? Wrote your birthdate instead of the voting date? Signed in the wrong spot? Forgot the inner secrecy envelope? Made a mark or note on your ballot outside the voting bubbles? Their list of reasons to cancel/reject a ballot is long. If a ballot was returned it early then there’s more time for the voter to get notified (hopefully voters are proactively checking for themselves!) and take corrective action to ‘cure’ their ballot before the deadline, or to vote on a Provisional Ballot on election day. But those who waited util very late to return their ballot might not have it reviewed until it is too late to do anything to correct the situation - their vote is simply a failure, it does not get counted.
✅ 3. Volunteers are working our tails off to get everyone to vote. To find andregister new young voters and get inconsistent voters to participate. Until one’s vote is actually cast (see point #1) their vote is unreliable. Once you’ve confirmed that you already voted, we can focus our attention on motivating or assisting those who have not voted yet. Winning an election is very literally a “numbers game.” One may intend and plan to vote, but until the vote is actually cast, that vote is not secured, not guaranteed, not reliable. Intentions do not win elections - completed votes do. Once your vote is banked, volunteers focus their time on other people who still haven’t completed the task and therefore are still at risk of failing to have their vote completed & counted. Therefore, by voting early you help your party, your team to get be more successful and actually get more votes. Think of that as your easiest way to volunteer to do something more to help your candidates win.
I hope any one of those might pursuade you, and give you some tools to pursuade others that it is not merely a nice idea to vote early, but rather voting early is a crucial part of helping us WIN. 💙🎉
