A native of Prince George’s County, Maryland, Gary has worked professionally in the Entertainment Technology and Performing Arts Industry for two decades, primarily in the operations, management, design, and academic fields. Gary currently serves at Prince George’s Community College as an Assistant Professor of Communication and Theatre; Gary also serves as the Academic Theatre Coordinator of Perf
ormance and Entertainment Technology Studies for Prince George’s Community College. Gary’s had the pleasure to work with many performing arts organizations over the past twenty years as a freelance artist. Recently, he has worked for The Madcap Players and The National Ballet Company. Under the moniker, The House of Bella and Baron, Gary works as a writer, blogger, commentator and analyst for esoteric subject matter, pop and geek culture, communication mediums, and global affairs. While Gary has made his career in Entertainment Technology and the Performing Arts, he also holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Business Management, Humanities, and English. Gary holds a Masters Degree in Communication Arts with his work focused in Theatre, Journalism, and Public Relations. When Gary is not involved in higher education, mounting a live performance, or pontificating and researching his principal choice of subject matter he spends time with his hobbies as a tabletop gamer, video gamer, science-fiction and fantasy fan, gardener, playwright, and music enthusiast. He makes his home in the urban sprawl between Washington D.C. Gary is a Professor of Communication and Theatre at a public college in Maryland and serves as the Academic Theatre Program Director for Performance and Entertainment Technology Studies. As a freelance theatre professional Gary’s had the pleasure to work with many performing arts organizations and artists over the past twenty years. Most recently, he maintains his membership as a creative associate with The Madcap Players based on Capitol Hill in Washington DC and is currently the resident technical manager and lighting designer for The National Ballet Company based in Edgewater, Maryland, and teaches for the company’s school, the National Ballet Institute for the Arts. Gary is also on the Board of Directors for The Creative and Performing Arts of South County
The House of Bella and Baron is the creative dais in which Gary Raymond Fry, Jr. manifests his various artistic endeavors working across multiple mediums and on many platforms. The most recent manifestations of the House of Bella and Baron has seen Gary work as a staff contributor to The Neverending Digression, a blog on geek and popular culture. And, his own line of uniquely crafted tote bags, hand bags, sacks, and pointe show bags for dancers. While Gary has made his career in Entertainment Technology and the Performing Arts, he also holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Interdisciplinary studies where me merges his love of Business Management, Theatre, and Literature. Gary holds a Masters Degree in Communication Arts where he was able to merge his love of Theatre with many other disciplines including management, writing, communication theory, and public relations/journalism studies into a degree that would complement his many interests. Gary has also studied Creative Writing extensively at the collegiate level at the University of Maryland. When Gary is not involved in higher education, mounting a live performance, or exploring new ways to express himself through the House of Bella and Baron, he spends time with his hobbies as a tabletop gamer, video gamer, science-fiction and fantasy fan, gardener, and music enthusiast. and Baltimore in the City of Laurel, Maryland, with his two dogs, Bella and Baron.
